Let's find blogs this week!

There are a lot of blogs you can use to learn English. Ours is one. ALEA English blog is another. ESL Podcast is another.

And of course other blogs for learning English don't have to be ESL blogs. Many blog sites can give people a sense of Internet campaigning and other media-related political activity in the United States. If you are interested in US politics, you can look at these, which I sometimes read myself.

On the conservative/red/Republican side:

Powerline

Little Green Footballs

Free Republic

Free Republic bloggers are nicknamed "Freepers" and the site has given rise to the verb "to freep" meaning to skew an online poll. Freepers have a reputation for allegedly having started the practice of using blogs to alert others to the existence of online polls, thus skewing their results in the direction of one's own opinion.

Red State n.b. The United States lacks a Socialist Party, or even a Socialist movement that is part of national discourse. Thus recently "red" has become the color of the right and "blue" of the left.

On the liberal/blue/Democrat side:

Daily Kos is probably bigger than all of the Republican blogs I already mentioned put together. It is certainly the most important blog on its side of American politics, possibly in American politics as a whole. It has spawned a number of offspring, many of which are listed at the bottom of the right column of the blog.

I know everyone doesn't like to follow American politics, so I want you to ask you to find English language blogs about subjects that you are interested in, and tell us about them. That's this week's assignment. Find a blog that interests you and tell us about it.

Hello World!

If you are looking for blogs to learn English, I'd like to contribute with mine. I started blogging with my FCE class and now it seems that our classroom walls have opened up...or disappeared.

The FCE Blog is a guide for students preparing for the Cambridge FCE exam. I think that any student interested in improving towards an advanced level will find it interesting. It offers lots of tips and practice for grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and writing.

Love to know what you think of it, so you are all invited to browse and comment if you like!

All the way from Argentina, wishing you the best in your studies,
