This is a blog for my English IIIB students at Hirosaki University in the Fall of 2005. I started it in the Spring of 2005 for another class, and now I use it for whichever class I have. Right now it's English IIIB again. I hope you enjoy it.
Today, I want to talk about penguins especially emperor penguins. Have you ever seen them before? Aren't they really cute? I mean especially chicks are too cute! (^^)
Actually I've been crazy about penguins since I was in elementary school. When I was 9 years old, I went to an aquarium with family for the first time and I bought a penguin doll there. At that time, I really liked it and the penguin doll is a start for my penguin freak life, I'm sure! :) And I'm still loving the penguin doll even though it is kind of dirty.
After that, I bought several books on penguins, memorized all kinds and even learned their instinct respectively!! Emperor penguins are the biggest penguin and live in the southernmost. However if global warming goes on, we won't see them in 50 years or so. That's a very miserable, huh? I think we should consider what we can do and save them from extinction. Now I'm seriously thinking of joinig a volunteer work in order to save their life. Does anyone have interested in it?? Let's talk about it!!
Hi, it's Fumiko. I love movies , you know. I have many pieces of favorite works, but especially I like this, LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL. For me, it is one of the best movies. Besides, it's soundtrack is very beatiful. And, I love the title 「Life is beatiful」. In our lives, we must experience not only happy things but also sad things. Still, I do think life is beatiful. I never see this movie without crying. When you watch it, please tell me your impressions.
Today, I want to write about my favorite thing, piano. When I was 4 years old, I played the piano for the first time. Since then, I have played the piano for 14 years. I love to play the piano and listen to classical music very much.
Piano has 88 keys (52 white keys and 36 black keys) . We can make a sound by striking them with fingers and we can change tone color by change the way to strike them. If you strike the keys with bended fingers, maybe you can make a sharp sound. On the contrary, maybe you can make a soft sound by striking them with stretched fingers.
There were many great composers of classical music, such as J.S.Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, and so on, you know. If you think that classical music is formal or stiff, you are wrong! Classical music, especially the sound of piano, is very interesting and sounds in your heart. I'm sure you can find out your favorite composer.
Let's listen to classical music, the sound of piano in particular :) ♪
Today,I am going to introduce my hometown Kawagoe city in Saitama Prefecture.I was born in Shimane Prefecture but grown up in Kawagoe city in Saitama Prefecture for 19 years. The population of this city is about 340,000. So it is one of the biggest city in Saitama Prefecture. Kawagoe city is famous for many things.For example,there are a lot of old buildings built in Edo or Meiji period.They look pretty old but very beautiful. Also you can enjoy sweets in this city.Especially, Japanese cake made from sweet poteto is very popular and of course so delicious Why don't you visit my home town some day? I'm sure you can have a good time and enjoy your staying there.
Good evening! I'm Kiho. The other day I went back to Akita, so I'm going to write it.
This Wednesday I didn't have any classes in the afternoon, so I went back to my hometown. My dear friend picked me up at the station and drove me home. We chatted about several things in the car. Before I knew it, rice planting has already started. Paddy fields filled with water were very beautiful. It was a sunny day, and a gentle breeze rippled the surface of the water. It had been a usual view when I lived there, but a little separation brought me the feeling.
If I have a chance again, I want to go back home and meet my friend and family, and see the view of rice plants in the near future.
My hometown is this city, Hirosaki. This city is famous for cherry blossomes and apples. In spring, a lot of tourists came to see them in Hirosaki park. I think the cherry blossomes in the park is one of the best ones in Japan. Not only them, but also shopping in "yatai" is enjoying. And, in fall, apples are harvested and sold. they have sweet and sour tastes. Also,they are very delicious.
Good morning, everyone. Today,I'll write about my impression of the movie, "E.T.".
It was the first time I watched it. I was very anxious because the movie I saw several weeks ago"o brother"was difficult for me to understand. But, the anxiety was nothing. The movie was easy to understand and interesting. It made me laugh many times and the last scene was emotional. The scene I laughed the best was that the boys mother don't notice E.T. in spite of he is near to her.
The question was why the boy feeld and moved the same as E.T. The scene was also laughing.
Good morning,everyone. I'm Sho Maruyama. My hometown is located in the west of Tsgaru city. Its name is Tateoka. It is so small that we can't call it town. There is no big buildings,supermarkets,high schools,and so on. It has only a rural landscape. So for me, Hirosaki is very big city. I sometimes go back to my hometown to meet my family. Every time I visit my hometown , it relax me.
I have two home towns, Ebina city in Kanagawa, where I live when I was elementary school student and junior high school student, and Shichinohe town in Aomori, where I live when I was high school student. So I'll write about Ebina city.
I think Ebina city is a moderate city. There is a shopping mall, called "Bina walk" in front of Ebina station. You can enjoy almost all of entertainments. There are a movie theater, a game arcade, restaurants, clothing stores, and so on. And there are forests and I used to go there to catch beetles and stag beetles in summer. Still, I often go back to Ebina city and play with friends. I think they are lifetime friends. I'll go back to Ebina city during next summer vacation if I have enough time.
My hometown is Kasugai city in Aichi prefecture.The city is next to Nagoya city which is third lergest city in japan,but it does not lerge very much.Rather it is calm.It keeps good balance. Near my house,there are many forests.In the forests,many bombs which aren't exploded are said to be buried.They are results of the World War Ⅱ.The bombs are sometimes regarded as a dangerous problem by goverment officers,but people living around there doesn't take care of that.In this forest,you can find not only bombs but also many animals.I have seen pheasants and tanukis.Sometimes a protected animals are found around the forests.Last year,a kind of fox which is a pretected animal is found.
I watched a movie,which is called E.T., last week. In fact,I have watched this movie,so I know the story of this movie. The highlight is the scene,E.T. cures an injury of Eliot's finger by touching it.It is very impression.I have heard the scene was inspired by a picture of Michelangelo.
The biggest question is where did the name,E.T., come from.I don't remember the origin and I couldn't understand the detail in English.
I knew E.T. was a very famous and interesting movie, but I had not seen it before that day. I understood the reason why E.T. is a special movie. It teaches us the importance and the possibility of mental exchanges between "different" existances. I moved so much.
I saw the movie "E.T" for the first time.It was a kind of heart-warming movie between human boys and a NOT human creature. Human boys helped E.T to get back its own planet safely.If they had not found it,it would have been caught by adults who wanted to study it,and it could not have gotten back to its own planet. I thought E.T was cute.Especially,the way of walk was impressive.Its feet were very short and when it walked,it needed to shake its whole body to reach out its feet.When it mistakenly drank,it bumped against a desk.This was cute,too. I found how the moon was shown in the movie important.From the scene that a boy found a boll come back ,to the scene he saw E.T for the first time,the moon was very round and never move.It was impressive.And when boys flied by E.T's power,the moon played an impressive role,too. I have a question about this movie.Why E.T came to this planet? What was their purpose?
My hometown is Kobe in Hyogo prefecture. Kobe is famous for ports.When you see ports at night,you'll be moved.Ports at night are very very beautiful. Kobe is also famous for Kobe beef.Kobe Bean Bryant,a famous pro-basketball player, is named after Kobe beef because his father likes Kobe beef. Aomori is distant from Kobe,so I can't return to my hometown so often.It is very inconvenient.I want to eat my mothers cooking.In summer vacation,however, I can go back to Kobe.I'm really looking forward to it. If you have any chance to come to Kobe I'll guide Kobe.
My hometown is Sendai. Sendai is the biggest city in the Tohoku district. There are many modern buildings and convenient up-to-date facilities and shops. In addition, there are also a lot of trees and flowers. Because of the beautiful natural scenery, Sendai is called mori no miyako. I think Sendai is the most comfortable city in Japan.
Sendai is also famous for its delicious foods. Beef tongue is popular in particular. There are many good beef tongue restaurants, so you will surely find your favorite one.
We can easily go to Sendai from Hirosaki by shuttle bus. If you want to travel or go shopping, please visit Sendai by all means!
My hometown is Mutsu. It was small and quiet town, but, in this three years, many new shops were opened. For example, Tsutaya, Sukiya, Yamada denki, and Kappa zushi. Mutsu is the hottest town in Shimokita.
Hello, I'm Kazuki Sato. Today, I'm going to talk about my hometown.
I'm from Fujimi city in Saitama prefecture. Fujimi city is south in Saitama. This cit has a population of 100,000. This name "Fujimi" is derived from the place where we can see Mt. Fuji. There are three stations in this city. They are "Mizuhodai", "Tsuruse", "Fujimino".
Fujimi city is known for three things.
First, peculiar soybean paste is made in this town. This is called "Fujimi miso". However, I never have it. I want to eat it someday. Second, there is an unique park. The name of this park is "Mizuko kaizuka kouen".You can see "tateanasikizyuukyo" in this park. Third, there are large field. Many crop is raised in this field. The famous "Fujimi negi" is raised in this town!!
Fujimi city has many virtue. I'd like you to come to this city!!
My hometown is Aomori City. The climate of Aomori City is a little cooler than that of Hirosaki City in summer because Aomori City faces the sea though it is the same with Hirosaki City almost.
Aomori City is famous for the Nebuta festival. Recently, I feel summer because I hear the practice of the musical band of Nebuta festival in the early evening.
And, Mt. Hakkoda looks clear in Aomori. I see the snow scene of Mt. Hakkoda introduced, I think that it is a very beautiful mountain.
In Aomori, there are a lot of good places. please come to Aomori City once.
Although E.T. is very famous movie,I saw E.T. for the first time last Friday.It was a very heart-warming movie,and I liked it so much!
The best famous scene of E.T. is where E.T. and boys flies in the sky by bicycle.To say the truth...I have flown like them!I am NOT telling a lie.I have flown like them...in the attraction of E.T. in USJ:)
We watched E.T. last Friday. It was possible for me to understand the content well more than time when we watched o-brother, because people spoke easy English in it.
The scene that Eliot's mother did not notice though E.T. was in the room and scene of frog in Eliot's school were a lot of fun. I see the scene to which Eliots fly over the sky by bicycle,I came to want to fly over the sky by bicycle too. Though I had become uneasy in the scene when E.T. had died once, I was glad for he to revive. I was impressed by friendship between E.T. and children.
I've never been seen "E.T." before,so I was looking forward to watch it.I'll tell you what I feel after watching it.The words in "E.T." were easier than the words in "O Brother!",so I could understand most of the meaning.
The little boy could share every feelings with E.T.!I couldn't help laughing at the scene that when E.T. got drank,the little boy got drank,too and when E.T. watched a man kissed a woman in TV with love story,the little boy kissed the classemate!
I moved that E.T. came back to life and went home, and the friendship between E.T. and the little boy.
I saw the movie "E.T." last Friday. I saw it when I was a junior high school student. However, I didn't remember content of it. So I looked forward to seeing it.
This movie was more interesting than I had expect. Especially, E.T. was so funny. I liked the scene that E.T. drank the beer and was dead drunk. The face of E.T. displeased me. However, the act of him(?) amused me. The act of the family is also important. When they see the E.T. first , they was always very very surprised. The action of them was wonderful.
Thie movie was moderately exciting. However, I have a question. The last scene, E.T. was raised from the dead. Why did he revive? This question may be taboo but I minded it.
I'd like to watch a movie in English again if I have a chance.

Firstly,Hachinohe is famous for seafoods,like seasoned sea-urchin eggs or squids.I want you all to eat sushi in Hachinohe.They're very fresh and really nice!
Secondly,I'll talk about Sanshataisai,which is summer festival held in Hachinohe every year.Huge cars with beautiful Japanese dolls called Dashi go around the city.This festival is held at the begining of August.Please come to Hachinohe and see this festival.

I'm from Sendai. Sendai is the biggest city in the Tohoku district. There are many famous local specialties. For example, a beaf tongue, zunda, Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, and so on.
To tell you the truth, I don't like beaf, especially yakiniku, but I can only eat a beaf tongue. We usually eat it with a boiled mixture of rice and barley (mugimeshi) and grated yam (tororo).
I have seen this film several times. However, I had seen only the Japanese version, so it was the first time I saw the English version. Though I remembered almost all the scenes of the film, while I was watching it, I felt like as if I was watching another film which I hadn't seen. That was because the characters was speaking in English, and there were no subtitles. It was fresh for me.
Needless to say, the story is really interesting. All of the characters are amusing, and I like E.T. in particular. If creatures from outer space actually looked like E.T., I would want so badly to meet and be friends with them!
Though I had known name of the film and famous scene,I haven't seen "E.T."until last friday!
What I wanna say at first is "E.T. is so cute!!" Will all of you remember the scene that E.T.was buried in many stuffed toys? I laughed in spite of myself because of his lovelily:) It was pleased to see that E.T. opened his heart to children.

I had not seen E.T. but I had known it,because I have a puzzle which are printed a picture of E.T. .And I have watched it at length!It was easy for me to understand E.T. . The most interesting scene was that E.T. recovered his spirits as the flower was in bloom. I thought that if E.T. had died,the ending would have so sad.But the ending was happy!E.T. was able to go back to the moon. E.T. must have been fine by now!I want to experience in flying on a bicycle someday.

My home town is Wakayama. Do you know where Wakayama is placed? It is south to Osaka. Wakayama is very good place. There are beautiful ocean, awesome mountain and mysterious forest and so on. The food is also good. For example, aridamikan and nankouume and wakayamaramen etc. I love Wakayama! If you have a chance to go to there, I will guide!!
Last week, we saw E.T. Actually I had seen the movie before, but the famous scenes kept their goods. In addition the movie moved me more than the first time I'd seen it.
My favorite scene is the children fly the sky by E.T. . I think it may imply the release from adults (=phoney things.) It is very exciting! But I think also that we have to live the world filled with a lot of phoney. So I don't think that the action isn't necessarily right. However if they play in a huge rye field on the edge of cliff and wander close to brink, I'll catch them.
My hometown is Aomori city. It takes an hour for us to go there from Hirosaki. We can go there very easily. Aomori city is the prefectural capital. However, the station square is not bustling but quiet. In fact, Aomori city is sleepy place. However, I like the city very much. It is because we can enjoy the beautiful nature and eat very delicious and healthy food. We can easily go to Oirase and Sirakamisanchi by car to see the wonderful natural scene. Also, we can eat very fresh apples, scallops, eggs and so on.
Aomori city is a very good place. Please visit the city.
Last Friday I watched ET. It's very famous and popular movie, but I have never seen this film. So, I had very interesting time.
I thought it very wonderful that Eliot and his brothers and sisters were getting along with ET. The scene that I like very much is the scene that they take ET out to run away. Eliot carry ET by bicycle with his brothers and sisters. Then, their bicycles rise into the air!! This scene is very exciting. The parting is so sad and moving.
I saw E.T. last week. It is twice I see this movie. When I was in elementary school, I watched it for the first time. But I almost forgot detailed story of it, so I was excited to see it. I like a figure of E.T. He/She(may be he) is far from pretty and I really like the way he acts. My favorite scene in this film is that E.T. had been made up by Girty and when E.T. had been found out by Eliot his action was funny. I also enjoyed songs of this film.

Last week, I wathed E.T. in the class. I have seen it before,but I enjoyed it very much. I think this movie have some magic, so I never get weary of watching it. Every scene was wonderful but I especially love the scene that boys run away from adults to protect E.T. and fly in the sky with ride their bicycles on. It's full of a sense of energy and fantasy!!
One of my hobbies is watching movies so my appreciation of them are little severe. However, we can laugh, cry, swell imagination, think about selfishness of we adult at one time in this movie. Yes, E.T. is an excellent film!!!!

Hello.It's Tetsushi. In our English class,we watched the movie "E.T." in English.I have seen this before ,but I think it's fun watching it once again.
I could understand the story of "E.T." easier than "O Brother",the movie last time we watched.I think that's because the theme of this story is about friendship and there's little complex background like religion or race.It may be a film that every age can enjoy.
"E.T." was really a exciting fiction movie.If you haven't seen it yet,you'd better go to Tsutaya and rent a DVD.
I saw a movie which I had wanted to see, 'E.T.' It was a science fiction film and very very famous, but it was the first time for me to see it.
English the characters in this movie speak was a little easy to understand, so I enjoyed this movie very much. I was moved, especially the scene which E.T. was dying. And I was very surprised to see E.T. come back to life!
The music in this movie was also good. It made the story more fantastic. That was great!
Last Friday, I watched "E.T." with my classmates in our Enlish class. Actually, this is the first time to watch the film even though it is super popular all over the world. The reason why I haven't watched it during my child days is that E.T. looked very scary and weird for me at that time. Most people were saying E.T. was really cute, though.
However, all children in this film were cherishing E.T. and tried to save him from people who wanted to capture him. Their attituide was really impressed me. Especially, the last scene that was the hero boy and E.T. had to say good-bye each other made me cry. I didn't intend to cry, but I wasn't able to watch it without tears in my eyes. Besides, gradually I like E.T. as I was watching it. :)
The conversation in English of this film was more understandable than the previous one "O Brother". I think it is mainly because the hero was a boy and he and E.T. were talking in simple English so that I enjoyed it very much!
When I was a child, I watched E.T in a movie theater in 1982. At that time, I was interested in the existence of a being like E.T from outer space. Then, I thought I wanted to fly by bicycle with E.T.
The other day, I watched the movie again in the class. In the story , adults treat E.T as a material for research, while children are friends with E.T. The movie reminds me of important things which we adults sometimes forget. It is a friendship, a tender heart and tolerance that are the most important in our life.
Now, I'm 32 years old, but I still want to fly by bicycle with E.T and my friends!!
Asahikawa city is located in the center of Hokkaidou prefecture in Japan. Many rivers whose source is Daisetsuzan National Park flow through the city. The change of the seasons is quite noticeable around the city. In summer, a mountain hiking in Daisetsuzan National Park is the best and you can see many beautiful alpine plants and flowers there. In winter you can enjoy skiing and snowboard with powder snow in Mother nature!!
Today, I'm going to talk about my hometown. I'm from Odate, the north of Akita Prefecture. So comparatively it is near to Hirosaki. It takes only about an hour from my home to here by car.
In fact, the original name of my hometown is Tashiro. It was a small town and merged in Odate City several years ago. But the name, Tashiroremains in our typical mountain, Tashiro-Dake. There are a lot of beautiful nature. The spring water is very good.
To tell about Akita Prefecture, kiritanpo is our famous local food. I think what my grandmother makes is the best! I recommend you to try it if you visit Akita Prefecture.

Also there are traditional festivals,for example,"Sakura Mathuri",that you can see a lot of cherry blossoms in Hirosaki Castle, "Neputa Mathuri"that you can watch the beautiful paintings and feel people who join in the festival active,"Yomiya"that in evening,with friend(or your boyfriend/girlfriend!)you can wear yukata and eat food at yatai,the small shop,and so on!!
However there are few shops which sell clothes...

Hello, it's Koko. I'm going to introduce my hometown. I was born in Hirosaki and grew up in Tsugaru city. Tsugaru city is famous for its production of watermelon and melon, and the remains of Kamegaoka. Most of the city is paddy field. There is delicious rice in autumn. And there are many convenience stores. I don't know the reason, but it is useful. Tsugaru city has two festivals in summer. One is Nebuta matsuri and Umaichi matsuri. Nebuta matsuri is so so.Umaichi matsuri is the festival for horses!
I was born in Kazo city in Saitama prefecture. Kazo is northeast in Saitama, and from Kazo it takes about one and a half hours to go to Sinjuku or Sibuya in Tokyo by train.
Kazo is famouse for carp streamers, which are called Koinobori. On May 5th, Jambo Koinobori, which is about 100 meters long, is put up on Tone river. It's very very big and strong! Many people from all over Japan visit Kazo to see it every year.
I hope many more people will visit Kazo and enjoy seeing the traditional culture of Kazo, especially this Jambo Koinobori :)
I'm from Aomori city. Aomori city is located in the place where it takes an hour from Hirosaki by train. It is comfortable to spend the place where I live very much though no city because there are a lot of shops in surroudings.
During GW,"RAB trick art exhibition" was opened in JUSCO in Aomori. There were a lot of paintings that be mysterious,beautiful and unique!
And there is a restaurant where omelette with rice was made a specialty,which is my favorite(*^^*) Let's go to the restaurant together when you come to Aomori city♪
Good evening,everyone! Kiyose City is my hometown.Kiyose City lies the northern part of Tokyo,and it borders Saitama Prefecture on the north.I can go to Saitama Prefecture only in a minute.In Kiyoce City,taking out garbage is not a free service,and some people go to Saitama Prefecture to do it.Ha-ha-ha. There are a lot of hospitals in Kiyose City,so I can see a hospital here and there.If I feel ill,I can go to see a doctor in a minute.Furthermore,there are many forests there,so elderly persons live very comfortably,I think. Akina Nakamori,Yumiko Syaku and Maki Horikita are from Kiyose City. This is by the way. I love Kiyose City very much!
Today, I want to talk about my lovely hometown. My hometown is Kiryu-city,Gunma prefecture. Gunma is in the Kanto Plain and Kiryu is located in the west of Gunma.
Kiryu and Gunma has a lot of intersting cultures, something like textiles, silk fabrics, and baseball. Especially, Jomo-Karuta is very famous. Do you know Karta,by the way? Karta is one of the card games. This Karuta is very familiar to us and children there. All of them are memorizing lines of Karuta perfectly. That's why they can choose a correct card immediately when a person is reading a line of the card. I heard this Jomo-Karuta was made in order to help children understand their hometown's culture and history. In fact, lines of the cards are written about many famous figures, geography and scenery.
If you have friends who are from Gunma, you can ask about it and I'm sure that they can say the lines as if they utterd an incantation. :)
Hi,folks.It's Tetsushi Oyama. I was born in Yuzawa city in Akita,and then moved to Sendai,San Diego CA,Sendai again,and Hirosaki.So, I actually have several hometowns.
Today,I'd like to tell you about Sendai,where I spent longest in my life. Sendai is generally called "Mori no Miyako".It means the city is covered with green.In fact,Parks in Sendai are beautiful and the street has lots of trees.It's really a nice place to live.
Sendai has other nice things like sports.Pro sports are very popular there.Soccer,baseball,basketball and so on. I'm planning to go to stadiums and watch soccer and baseball in my summer vacation.
I think I couldn't tell you enough, but I'm glad if you read my writing and feel like visiting Sendai.
Hello. I'm from Tendo city, Yamagata. About 64 thousands people are living in Tendo.Tendo is located at just north of Yamagata city. Because over 95 percent of shogi komas are produced in Tendo, objects look like shogi koma can be seen very often in Tendo. For example, there is a big shogi koma on almost every postbox and questions of shogi on electric light poles and sidewalks. Festivals about shogi is also holded in Tendo. One of them is "Ningen shogi", where professional shogi players play shogi using people as shogi komas. Because I have played shogi since I was a 4th grade student, I was invited to the festival last year. There are many things and facilities about shogi in Tendo (for example, shogi school, shogi museum, very big shogi komas for interior). If you like shogi, you should visit Tendo once. Hi,guys! It's Fumiko Abe. Today,I want tell you about my hometown. I was born and have lived in Shiwa-town, south to Morioka-city. Shiwa is small town so the population is also small. There are many rice fields, farms and orchards. Especially,producing of glutinous rice is the best in Japan!! My home is surrounded by rice fields,so views from the windows are very beatiful throughout the year(>ｖ<)☆☆ I love my hometown very much!! I'm looking forward to going back to there in the summer vacation.
I am living in the school dormitory named HokumeiRyo. Let me introduce meals of our dormitory. We can have breakfast and dinner everyday except Sundays and holidays at the dorm. The food are really balanced and full of nutrition. So we don't need to worry about what we should eat every time. The picture following is the dinner on Wednesday last week.It was pretty delicious. Since most of the dishes are Japanese or Chinese foods, they are very healthy as well. I'm very happy to have such delicious and healthy food everyday.
I move in Aomori-shi, and the parents still lives in Aomori-shi afterwards. There is Shinaomori station near my house.

In fact, In public participation for a name of the Shinkansen, but "Hayabusa" was the fourth of the whole. The first was "Hatukari", and the second seems to have been "Hatsune". Why it is "Hatsune", the reason is because a color of the Shinkansen looked just like the color of the character called "Hatsune Miku".

Hi! I'm Mamoru. I love curry and rice. especially, I love the curry and rice which is made by my mother. but after I came to Hirosaki. I met delicious curry and rice. It is as delicious as my mother's one. KAWASHIMA,which is curry restaurant and is in Dotemachi, offers the curry and rice. I have't eaten such a delicious ones. there are two peaces of pork on it. we can cut them only by pushing with a spoon. In short,they are really tender. I love the curry. I need the curry. when I eat a ordinary curry in the students' dining hall, I miss the curry!
I love tofu.Tofu is very delicious and healthy.Tofu has some variations to cook. The most favorite form of tofu is hiyayakko.Hiyayakko is the simplest form of tofu dishes but very delicious.If you haven't eaten hiyayakko, I recommend you to eat it.

I like tofu (bean curd) very much. I eat it almost every evening. When I come back home late because of a rehersal of a concert, I want to eat something but I don't want to grow fat. Then I eat tofu because it won't become fat.
Besides, there are many ways of eating it. For example, miso soup, sauted dishes, hiyayakko,and so on. I especially like hiyayakko! Hiyayakko is to eat tofu with soy sauce and spice.

Then,how to cook it? First,you cut green peppers,onions,and chicken into small piece.Second,you fry them with rice.During frying,use salt and pepper to make it delicious.This is all.So,it really easy to cook.Of course, it tastes good.

Hello, I'm sho maruyama. My favorite food is watermelon. The season of watermelon is coming soon. In my home town, there are many farm families involved in another business,and many of them grow watermelons. My grand parents also grow them. I know two ways to eat watermelons. One of them is keeping pieces of watermelons cold. Another of them is breaking them and eating the central parts of them. Generally, the tip of a watermelon is sweeter than the edge of it. So the central part is sweetest of a watermelon.If you eat watermelon , try the latter way.

Hello. During Golden Week, my family came to Hirosaki instead of my going back to my hometown. On May 3, my family arrived at my apartment and soon went to a hotel in Noheji with me. I talked about my school life while having dinner with my family. On the following day, my father and I went to Sunday to buy my new bicycle. The bicycle I used at the time is designed for elementary school children and very old. The tires are too small and easy to get flat, the gear changer is nearly broken, the light is removed away. So I had to buy new one. Eles member of my family went to Castle Hirosaki to see cherry blossom. After sightseeing, we went to another hotel in Ajigasawa. Dinner at the hotel was very good and we could eat as much as we wanted. There were clubs, beef steak, sashimi, vanilla ice cream etc... It was really very good dinner. On the next day, my family went back to thier home with my old bicycle.
Hello. My favorite food is soup curry. It is originated from Sapporo and there seem over 200 shops specialized in soup curry in Sapporo. It consists of spicy soup (but its taste is different from normal curry's) , fried vegetables (callots, eggplants, potatoes, green pepper...) only with oil, a chicken leg and turmeric rice. It is very delicious. I really love it. When I was an elementary school children, my family traveled to Hakodate and I ate soup curry there. I surprised to find it was so delicious in spite of its strong spiciness. Since then, I have loved soup curry. When I chose a college to enter, I had severe difficulty in deciding which college is good to enter. Yamagata University or Hirosaki University or Hukushima medical University... I considered until after the Center Examination and finally decided to enter Hirosaki University partly because I can go to Hakodate or Sapporo to eat soup curry. I'm planning to travel to Hakodate in this summer vacation with 8-12 friends. It will be in 8/27-29 (just before Early Exposure guidance in 8/30) or 9/16-18 (soon after medical examination in 9/15). Already 8 people are going to join if they are free in that time. If you want to join us, please send e-mail or talk to me. There is a nice soup curry shop in Hirosaki. Unfortunately, I can't understand most of what they spoke... I don't understand why the jail breakers sang on the stage in spite of the risk and joined a religious cultic activity. Is it because of thier eagerness to entertain other people and help dying person? I don't understand why the can waxes appeared so many times, either. My favorite food is ''NINNIKU RA-YU''. I bought this when I went to Iwate. After I went home, I ate this with hot rice. I was shocked! It was very delicious!!! Immediately, I ate two bowls of rice. It goes well with white rice. Whoever likes garlics and ''RA-YU'' should eat this surely. Someday, I will buy it again. I want you to eat this. Even if you care about the smell of garlics, you can't stop eating this!
My favorite food is Italian cuisine, especially I love pasta. It is very delicious! There are many kinds of pasta; meat sause, napolitain, carbonara, sea food, and so on. I like many kinds of pasta, but meat sauce with the topping of tomato or eggplant is the most delicious, I think. Someday I will go to Italy and have pasta.

Now I'm interested in apple pies. Do you know this apple pie? It was featured on TV (zoom in Saturday). It is apple pies of chez-moi , which is a sweet shop in Hirosaki. Whole apple is used in each ofapple pie. It would be very delocious. I haven't eaten it yet, but I will go there one of these days. Hirosaki has many sweet shops and cafes , so I'm going to make a tour of those shop.
My favorite food is Ramen. It is energetic and nutrious food. My hometown, Asahikawa city is famous for Asahikawa Ramen. There are many Ramen restaurants in Asahikawa city. I would like to tell you my favorite Ramen restaurant. It is Mikazuki which serves delicious ramen. This picture shows a soy sauce taste Ramen. If you go to Asahikawa city, you try it!
This salad is my favorite!! To put it correctly, it's our favorite because evrytime I go to this restaurant, I'm with my boyfriend and we both like this!This salad is made up of lettuce, avocados, snow crabs and a little bit sour sauce. This serves at cafe La Boheme, which is in Odaiba Tokyo. The restaurant has a lot of specialty foods and they are also awesome. When we go there, we first order this and we can enjoy not only meals but also beautiful scene from windows. How romantic it is, right?
Besides, this restaurant has many foods that contains avocados. I heard that most Japanese girls really like it and I do so much!!
If you have any chance to go to Tokyo, you should go to Odaiba and this restaurant! This reataurant is pretty good atomosphere, too! Anyone has a boyfriend or girlfriend should go there with one defenitely! You all will enjoy there, I'm sure! :)
One of my favorite food is umeboshi. My country, Wakayama, is famous for the production of umeboshi. Do you know nannkouume(南高梅)? Nannkouume is the most famous and high quality umeboshi. It makes my mouth water! I guess most of you think that umeboshi is too sour to be eaten with nothing, but nannkouume is so delicious that I usually eat it with nothing. Some nannkouume are very expensive, for example there is "a" nannkouume costs us 5,000 yen and each of them is wrapped! If you haven't eat nannkouume, it means that you haven't know the real umeboshi yet!;p
I have lots of favorite foods. If you look back over the blog from previous years, I think I wrote about Greek food, which I really like but which is hard to find in Japan. I also cook Italian, Mexican, and even a little Chinese and Indian. And of course I can make all the American clichès, from hamburgers and steak to BLT and grilled cheese sandwiches. But what I really like is my wife's cooking. She makes mostly Japanese and Chinese foods, although she can cook some other kinds of food, too. She really likes experimenting in the kitchen, and she comes up with a lot of surprises. But just the ordinary daily dinner she cooks is good enough that I once snapped it and put it on Facebook. Here was my daily dinner one night: Actually we had a lot more food at that dinner, but the salmon and shiitake seemed "picture perfect" to me.
I do get out to restaurants, too. I thought I'd add a photo I took at Da Ferido, a northern Italian restaurant here in Hirosaki with lots of great food. Northern Italian food is not the usual you get in Japan, since Italian food was introduced to Japan from the United States, and most Italo-Americans are from southern Italy. But the owner makes a lot of southern Italian dishes, too, and even North African ones. It's a little expensive for students, though, so maybe you should get your parents to take you when they visit you. Here's what I had one night last November:

The cinnamon toast is very simple, spread butter on bread, sprinkle cinnamon powder on it, toast, then spread sweet honey!! But I can't make delicious cinnamon toast as much as cafe cembalo. I never eat it without being impressed!!!

The first reason is because , it tastes so good. Sushi is loved by many people in the world because of it's taste. It has been one of the most famous Japanese food.
The Second is because, I have it in my name. Tet"sushi". Some of my friends called me "sushi" when I was little.
This is one day's dinner, salmon meuniere with white sauce. In fact, the picture was taken in March. I cooked it for my family. My grandmother taught me several things about cooking, and praised the dish. It is very delightful for me that someone eats what I make. However, now I live alone... When my friend came to my room and had dinner together in GW, I was very happy! It is a little lonely to make a dish only for myself, but for economy and my health, and to be a good wife in the future:), I'll continue to try it!

Many classmates seem to to have gone back to their hometown .But,I didn't need to go back because Hirosaki is myu hometown.And,most of my friends who go to other colleges didn't come back to HIrosaki altough I wanted to play with them.So,I was free.I want to meet them summer vacation. I spent most of the days taking a nap and watching TV , reading books in used bookstore. But,the last day of Golden Week was very exciting .I enjoyed the party under the cherry trees of Hirosaki Park with my classmates very much.
I’ll introduce my favorite food.I love foods which taste powdered green tea.For example,cakes,cookies,ice creams,sweet rolls,chocolates and so on.Of course,I like making and drinking powdered tea,too.I wonder why such a wonderful taste is existed in Japan.I'm fortunate to have been a Japanese.Anyone give me such foods as seemed likely to please me is welcome♪♪

Both appear as religious ceremonies conducted by large groups of people in white robes. The first ceremony, Baptism, is a sign of entering the Christian religion. This instance showed Baptism as practiced in the Baptist denomination, one of the largest religions in the United States, although relatively unknown in Europe. There are many "conventions" as they are called, of Baptists in the United States, for example the Southern Baptists which are the largest Baptist convention, and the largest Protestant church in the United States. Through Roger Williams' founding of Providence Plantation (now the state of Rhode Island) Baptists have a claim on contributing the idea of religious freedom to the tradition of the United States. They are one of the most important religious groups in the United States, both in history and today.
The Ku Klux Klan, on the other hand, is a notorious racist secret society, that also opposed Catholics and Jews as well as blacks. It took its name from a similar secret society formed after the American Civil War, but which did not oppose Catholics or Jews. The Klan was founded in 1915, grew until the middle of the 1920s, split into several groups, and declined after that. They organized violence against not only Blacks, Catholics and Jews but against anyone who opposed them, and engaged in much violence against the Civil Rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s. Small groups still exist around the United States. I think that the parallelism of daylight Baptism and nighttime Klan meeting was intended by the Coen Brothers to signify good and evil.
The confrontation of good and evil, and the problem of defining good and evil, is a constant theme throughout this film. The law is chasing the three escapees, but is the law good? Who is good and who is evil in this film? It's a question to think about.
The Blues musician Tommy Johnson sold his soul to the Devil for his skill. This is a reference to the story of the real life Blues musician, Robert Johnson, who is alleged to have sold his soul to the Devil for his skill. Like Tommy Johnson, Robert Johnson forgot to negotiate a time period the way Doctor Faustus did in the Faust story. Robert Johnson is today known as "The King of the Delta Blues Singers" and is one of the most influential, possibly the greatest, Blues musician who ever lived. However, he didn't live to enjoy his success or see his fame.
Robert Leroy Johnson (May 8, 1911 – August 16, 1938) was an American blues musician, among the most famous of Delta blues musicians. His landmark recordings from 1936–1937 display a remarkable combination of singing, guitar skills, and songwriting talent that have influenced generations of musicians. Johnson's shadowy, poorly documented life and death at age 27 have given rise to much legend, including a Faust myth. Johnson's songs, vocal phrasing and guitar style have influenced a broad range of musicians; Eric Clapton has called Johnson "the most important blues singer that ever lived". Johnson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an "Early Influence" in their first induction ceremony in 1986. He was ranked fifth in Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
Notice how the way Tommy Johnson describes the Devil fits the description of the policeman who is following the three escaped convicts around throughout the film. Was that the same Devil to whom Tommy sold his soul? I don't know. I do know that the Faust story is very influential not only in world literature but in African American folklore. Christopher Marlowe's"The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus" was the most popular stage play among African Americans in the late 19th century, and certainly influenced Robert Johnson, whether or not he actually sold his soul to the Devil. The Faust legend is certainly a major influence on the story of this film.
More influential than the Faust legend, though, is Homer's Odyssey. This is the story of the Trojan War hero, Odysseus, or Ulysses, who wandered all over the Mediterranean Sea searching for his home where his wife, Penelope, was waiting for him. This is the story of the movie, with the action moved from the ancient Mediterranean to 1930s Mississippi. I immediately recognized the characters of the Cyclops (John Goodman), the Sirens, and others, even though I hadn't read the book since I was a child. It's one of the greatest adventure stories of world literature. I hope you get the chance to read it some day.
I'll write about 2 days of GW. First day, I went to Hirosaki castle to see cherry blossoms with members of badminton club. But, I could see cherry blossoms only 2 hours because I drunk too much and felt sick. Then, I went to a house of a senior, and I vomited successively for ten hours... I was stupid! Next day, My family came Hirosaki, and we went to Hirosaki castle. In fact, you know, I didn't want to go there. It was a terrible talk. Do not you think so? Oh, I did not intend to talk about the complaint. I'm sorry. So, be careful about liquor! Ha ha.
Today,I,ll write my expression about the movie "O Brother". In fact, I can,t understand the story of the movie. So,I have a lot of questions about it. What is the purpose of the characters? Why one of the hero changed to a frog? What does the movie,s end mean? What is the .......
But, the comedy scenes were interesting even I can,t understand what they said.
I want to see the movie again with Japanese subtitles . Then,I,ll more enjoy the movie.
I think Golden Week is too short to stay my home town with feeling at ease. Actually,I was very busy.
I wanted to go back to Sapporo to see my parents and our dogs which are poodle. After I arrived at Sapporo,I went to a driving range to play golf with my father. He was really enthusiastic,because he loves golf and wanted to teach me. Next day,my parents took me to MITUI outlet store, which had opened recently. I didn't have enough clothes so I was happy.
I spent the others days of Golden Week happily.and now I am looking forward to the days when I can meet my family.

Now, I try to write about O brother. First of all, this movie was so difficult to understand what actors say that I couldn't understand the story fully. But music in this movie is very good and characters are very funny. Crazy people also make this movie fun. As I've mentioned above, music is very good and beautiful!! Music is an important factor to make the movie good.Bad music makes movies bad.
Finally, I have a question.I couldn't understand the story so I want to know what main characters wanted to do?
In my Golden Week days, I visited Yokohama to meet my friends.
Although I wanted to come back to my hometown, Kobe, Golden Week is too short to come back to Kobe and travel expenses also prevent me from coming back to Kobe. But doing nothing in Golden Week is an enormous loss, so I decided to visit Yokohama.
The way I took to go to Yokohama was a bus. I got a night-bus at 10:00 P.M on April 30th and arrived in Yokohama at 8:00 A.M on March 1st.My friends and I talked very much. It was very fun. I'm going to meet them again this summer.

We watched a movie, "O brother". I'm going to write feeling toward the movie.
Truthfully, I wasn't able to understand content in the movie well because I couldn't understand what actors say. So I tried to understood it by their movement and expression and atmosphere.
This movie is story about three prisoners. They broke jail and looked for treasure. On the way, they met many persons. I was especially impressed by music in the movie. Additionally, the funny side of the movie amused me. However, I had some questions about this movie. Who is the black man that wore a hat? Did he a prisoner? And what is the flood in the last scene? I couldn't understand it.
Though I wasn't able to understood the content of the movie perfectly , watching movie in English was good experience for me. I'd like to watch movie in English again if I have a chance.

I thought they were always very very lucky.No matter when they were in bad situation,someone or something certainly helped them. Well,I have many questions about the story. What was the group whose members were singing in a river? Who was the man who recorded the song singed by three prisoners? What was the man in glasses and always with his dog? Why,in last scene,the flood took place?
Hello,I am Sho Maruyama. Last week,we saw “o brother!!”. The story is set in the 1930s , south of United States. Though I could not understand whole story of this movie, I could enjoy seeing it. I think other students enjoyed ,too. The characters in it and music of it is very good. Each characters are comical. We can understand the story by their movements and expressions. The songs of this movie are popular and sound good. I didn`t know about “o brother !!” but I had heard its songs.Now I can’t understand whole story of movie in English,but If I`m accustomed to seeing movies in English, I’ll be able to enjoy them more.Thank you.
The first thing, I like music and songs in this movie. I have heard almost all songs, so I enjoyed listen to it.

I spent time in playing video games or sleeping.I know it was bad... In Hirosaki,I have a busy life. I study many things,join parties,practice table tennis, do houseworkand so on. So in the Goden Week,I was relaxed and releaved. However, I know that the reason why I felt relaxed and releaved is not only freedom. My family releave me every time I get back my house. All of them were grad to meet me then. I like my hose because of their giving me a welcome. I did nothing in the Golden Week but these days are so precious.

I thought that I was a very formal movie when I heard the introduction of this movie. However, it was not so. The scene which three men tried to take train was very fun. Afterwards, there were a lot of comical scenes. The scene about the frog is one of them.
