My Culture Day

  On November 3^rd, I lived a full day. At 10 o’clock, I got up and started cleaning my room. I had been lazy in cleaning, so it is a little hard. At 12, I ate lunch with my friends in Bikkuridonki. I ate a hamburger and chocolate parfait. They ate very nice and talking with my friends is very pleasant. After the lunch, we went to karaoke. We continued singing for four and a half hours there. As a result, our voice became hoarse but we enjoyed it very much. At 18, we went to the supermarket to buy ingredients of temakisushi. For example, slices of raw tuna and salmon, natto, kimchi and nori. In fact, we can easily cook temakisushi only cooking rice.it was very delicious. I was really tried on that day because I was active very much but I was excited further.

  Next public holiday, I want to enjoy the day again.

 The Culture Day, I have no school, so I could do what I wanted to do. 

 In the morning, I cleaned the house. I sucked up the garbage with a vacuum cleaner and cleaned the window with a damp cloth. The room that got cleaned felt good.

 In the  afternoon, I went to AEON TOWN Hinokuchi with my friend, Haruka. We bought some clothes and ate ice creams and donuts.  

 I watched TV and listened music that night. I had a very relaxing time,  so Iwas sleeping before I knew it.

My culture day was very active day. First,my friends of soft tennis club and I went to pick up apples at an apple orchard of a friend of mine.There are many,many apples.We were picking all apples at an orchard.(But somebody fail to pick apples. In that case,we picked apples as we were eating falled apples...)Farmers are very kind,so they gave us ten apples as souvenir.It was very nice.Second,that menbers were going to play soft tennis at night.I felt very tired because I don't exercise any more.I could play tennis after a long time.

In this,there are many speciality.For example, brain surgery,protology department,psychology,pediatrics,and so on.Now,many students (approximately 100 people per 1grade)in our university study all of medicne department for 4 years.Our study is an object of Novel Prize,so I am very excited that I may win the prize...!(very low probability) It can save many people if we study hard,so I will have my pride and study very much.

My Culture Day

Mostly I spent my day off cleaning up and shopping, but the weather was so beautiful I couldn't resist going out for a drive and getting away from town. I found myself headed for Hirakawa, for reasons I don't understand myself, and noticed signs pointing to a forest park. There I found really spectacular trees with colored leaves. Ever year in Tohoku it seems the maple trees go all Canadian flag on us. I know Canadians think they are the only ones with red maple leaves, and of course I know it's a national symbol for them, but beautiful red maple leaves are very common in Tohoku, too, even if maple syrup is not. I hope everyone enjoys these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

About my major

 My major is education and English. The number of us is only ten per a grade.

 We can learn English: phonetics, literature, grammar, and so on. Of course, we also learn about different culture and education. 

 My favorite class is English phonetics. I learned the difference from Japanese and how to read phonetic symbols  and pronounce. They were so interesting! Thanks to the class, I was be able to improve my pronunciation.

 In this department, I'd like to get much knowledge about English and education,and high ability of English in order to be a good English teacher.  I'm looking for to taking interesting classes from now on.

About my hometown

 I'm from Yurihonjo city in Akita. This city is the countryside and probably most people who live in other prefectures don't know the name. However, there are a lot of good point.
 For example, the nature is grand and beautiful. I often go Kuwanokidai wet land to see marino balls. You can fill your lungs with fresh airs and relax there.
 Second, you can eat many delicious food in this city. I recommend Yurihonjo-beef and blueberry soft cream! Both of them are loved by the citizens.
 They are the part of attractive points. If you come, see, and feel, you do know more them. I love my hometown, Yurihonjo city.

About my major

My major is English education. I've wanted to be an English teacher.And now I'm studying English deeply.We are learning English phonetics, grammar, pronunciation, other culture .Of course studying about the skill that necessary for becoming a teacher.

There were very close husband and wife. They had a son and treated him very lovingly without scolding. Their family was admired. But one matter suddenly occurred. The son had a telephone call from his father. He said his mother take a mental illness and she was getting worse day by day. So he was going to visit her in hospital, however, then he got a telephone call from his mother. She said she didn't take a disease and his fathers told lie. Oh my gods! Which person did say the truth!?

Culture Day Activity

  First, I went to Kawashima ,which is a famous curry restaurant, with friends of mine. We each ordered a Fried cheese curry, a Hamburg curry, a Shrimp curry, and a Cutlet curry. Kawashima's curry is very delicious and we all got feel full. I ate a Shrimp curry, and I usually eat fried cheese curry, so next I'll try Hamburg curry.
  Then, we cooked Banana cocoa cake. We used pancake mix and an electric rice cooker, so it's very easy! Furthermore, we were short of pancake mix, so we are worried. However, the cake was baked well and it tasted very delicious. I want to cook it again at home.

  The day before yesterday, Culture Day, I was happy because I could sleep for a long time in the morning since we had no classes. Then I went to a driving school all the day.

  These days I often go there to get a driving license. Driving a car is interesting but sometimes I get nervous and imagine if I cause a car accident. And tomorrow I will finally take a graduation test. I wish I can pass through it tomorrow.

I'm from Iwanuma in Miyagi.Iwanuma is below Sendai.Iwanuma has good aspects of city and country. Iwanuma has a lot of shops that make our living nice.On the other hand,Iwanuma has a "Green Pia " which is the park on the mountain.It has a futsal court and a tennis court,a swimming pool and gym.In addition to it,a barbecue place is there.We can enjoy there.Finally,I want to tell you ramen shops in Iwanuma.There are many nice ramen shops in Iwanuma.Among them,Mengumi's ramen is the best.Mengumi was elected the best ramen in Miyagi.If you have a opportunity to come Iwanuma,you should check it.

I am from Tomakomai, in Hokkaido.Tomakomai os famous for HOKKIGAI, surf clam in English.But I don't like all shells.So I have no merit.

Also Tomakomai is cooler in summer and warmer in winter than other places in Hokkaido.Therefore the tempetature of Hirosaki is hard for me.

I'm from Iwamizawa city in Hokkaido. Frankly Speaking, Iwamizawa has no famous things. You may have ever heard such cities "Sapporo" "Asahikawa" "Hakodate" and so on.
I sometimes ask my friends "Do you know Iwamizawa?", but most of them answer "NO.".
There is only one thing I can introduce. Every year, about July, our city holds a music event, which name is "Join A Live".
Famous bands and singers comes to this event, for example, TOKIO, Sakanakssyon,and so on.
People who live not only Iwamizawa but also around towns and cities join this event.

 Hello. I'm Akira Saito. I'll talk about my hometown.

 My hometown is Tsuchiura in Ibaraki. It is located in south of prefecture. It takes about an hour　to go to Tokyo by train.
 There's a famous thing. It is Tsuchiura national fireworks display. The fireworks display is held annually in October. It is one of Japan's three major fireworks display. It is very beautiful. Many people come to watch fireworks from all over Japan, so the town is very crowded. If you have time, you should go to watch it.

About my hometown

I'm from Asahikawa in Hokkaido.Asahikawa is comfortable city.There is two reasons.
First,road is flat.Asahikawa has labile road.So it's easy to mix with many people.
Second,there is many malls.Because I like clothes very much,I often do shopping. Asahikawa is convenience place for the person like me!
The others,"Asahikawa noodles"and"Asahiyama zoo"are famous in Japan.Shoyu noodles in Asahikawa tastes great.And animal's performances in "Asahiyama zoo"is exciting.

My hometown is Hirosaki. First of all, I want you know that Hirosaki has great coffee shops. For example, we can drink coffee with a special apple pie in the Garden of the Fujita, which located in Shirogane town.Garden of Fujita has a western building which built in the Taisho era. And we can enjoy coffee there. Of course, the apple pie is so delicious! Many coffee shops in Hirosaki offer coffee with apple pie. While you are in Hirosaki, be sure to enjoy them once!

Speaking of Hirosaki, you will think about cherry blossom-festival in Hirosaki park.  Not only the festival, also autumn-viewing festival and snow festival are held there. They are so beautiful. We can enjoy  taking a walk to Hirosaki park every season.

I think Hirosaki is a fascinating city and I love it.

About my homeotown

Hi!
I came from Nagaokakyo-city,Kyoto.
You know,Kyoto has many traditional buildings such as temples,shrines, and so on.
However,I think many people don`t know about Nagaokakyo-city, so I want to talk about it.

Nagaokakyo is nearer Osaka-city than Kyoto-city.So, when I was a junior hugh school student,I would often go to Osaka to play with my friends.And,we can  go Universal Studio Japan with only 500yen by train!! We uset to go there after school.
 My hometown was a capital of Japan in 784. In 794,a capital was moved to Heiankyo(now, it is Kyoto -city). So, just ten years, Nagaokakyo was a capital.

Now,it has many famous fuctories. For example, TOYOTA,DAIHATU,MURATA Mgf.,National(MATSUSHITA) and so on.But,air doesn`t pollute.
Of course,it has many nature,too.

It continues to develop.I don't live there now, so I'll not be able to go around my hometown withouut losing my way.But I love my hometown very very much. Please come Nagaokakyo-city if you have a chance. Thank you.

  Hello. I would like to talk about my hometown, Itayanagi. Itayanagi is one of the small town in Aomori.

  In Itayanagi, there is a famous treaty “Rinngo Marukaziri treaty”. Rinngo Marukaziri is to eat apples without paring. This treaty means the farmers in Itayanagi have to make apples consumers can eat in relief. The farmers must pay attention to how to use agricultural chemicals. Thanks to this treaty, food safety of consumers is kept.

  Itayanagi is hometown of many famous people. For example, Takamizakari and Kayoko Fukushi. Takamizakari is a sumo wrestler and Kayoko Fukushi is a marathon runner.

     My hometown is Itayanagi-machi Town in Aomori Prefecture. It's located between Mt. Iwaki and To-gawa River. And, it's famous for apples and Ringohi-matsuri Festival.

     25,000 ton of apples are produced. In other words, one person eats an apple made in Itayanagi-machi Town, when people eat apples as school lunch.

     Ringohi-matsuri Festival means townspeople's wish of harvest. The main of the festival is Ringo-Yamagasa. It's made of a lot of lanterns. And, they means delicious apples.

     Itayanagi-machi Town is a small town, but it's so interesting. Please visit my hometown!

I am from Hirosaki.So , this town is my hometown. I love Hirosaki very much!

Hirosaki has a lot of wonderful point.

First, you can see a lot of beautiful cherryblossoms in spring.Thease cherryblossoms are the most

beautiful in the world.When I saw Thease cherryblossoms in first time,I was so moved that I cannot

say any word.

Hello, my name is Shoma Hara.

I will introduce about my hometown.

My hometown is Kanagi in Goshogawara city. It is famous for Osamu Dazai’s hometown.In winter, it is colder in Kanagi than in Hirosaki. And it is very windy there.

The winter is severe, but there is much nature in my hometown. In spring, many cherry trees bloom. In summer and fall, I hear the voice of frogs and insects every night. They make me relaxed. That is why I love Kanagi. Thank you.

About my hometown

 Hello! I will introduce my hometown.

 My hometown is Aomori city. It is located in Aomori prefecture and faces the Gulf of Mutsu.

 In summer, Nebuta festival is held. It is very famous and one of Japan’s three greatest festivals. In this festival many people pull a huge lantern called Nebuta. People called Haneto perform dance steps and also crying out “rassera, rassera”. Both seeing and joining it are really fun!

  In winter, we have a lot of snow, so we can enjoy skiing. The snow scape is very beautiful.

 I think that Aomori city is nice place. So please visit here once!

I will tell tou my hometown Asaka in Santama.

First,Asaka has Garrison of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. 

When I was a junior high school student, I went there a lot of time and We were taught it  So, Children in my hometown are familiar with Self-Defense Forces .

Second, Big festival is held in Asaka.

The festival is called "Saikasai". Saikasai is famous for Yosakoi or Naruko. There are many many people in the day in which Saikasai is held !

Hello, I’m Masakazu Tobinai.

I would like to talk about my hometown .

I’m from Mutsu city in Aomori.

It’s located to the north of Aomori.

I will show two things about Mutsu city.

First, summer in Mutsu is sometimes cool under the influence of the wind called “Yamase.”

So we can spend a plesant summer.

But winter in Mutsu is very cold and has a lot of snow.

Therefore many people in Mutsu not try to go out to the outside.

Next, Mutsu has a mountain  called Osorezan.

It is one of the three major sacred places of Japan.

It is said to have a power to get the ghosts together.

 Hello. I'm Akira Saito. I'm from Ibaraki. My major is education but I won't be a teacher.
 I love soccer. I coach children in it. It's very difficult but very fun. I'm going to live in Spain because I want to learn soccer more and become a professional soccer coach.  So I'm learning Spanish. Before living in there, however, I have to learn soccer, medical, psychology and so on. That's why I have to do a lot of things.
 I love watching Kashiwa Reysol's games. Kashiwa Reysol is a Japanese professional soccer team. Before moving in Hirosaki, I often went to watch their games. But I live in Hirosaki, I can't go to watch it. That's all my self introduction.

About my hometown

Today, I would like to talk about my hometown, Towada.

I’m from Towada city, Aomori. Towada became famous recently in an art museum. This museum is famous for horse made of the flowers in the entrance and art object of the big woman in the hall. In addition, the street named by “komakaidou” near this museum is famous for a cherry tree. It becomes full of the tourrists who came to look at a cherry tree and this museum in spring. There are many art object to make the street a part of this museum.

 Towada is also famous for various food. Garlic and the yam are the first amount of production in Japan. It is “barayaki” to be particularly famous in that. Barayaki is cooked by an onion and beef with salty-sweet sauce. Barayaki won the championship at B-1 grand prix of 2014.

 Please come to Towada and eat barayaki once!

About home town

  My home town is Towada city.It is located inland in the southeast of Aomori prefecture.
Surrounded by mountains in the west including Mt.Hakkoda.
Towada enjoys a beautiful and peaceful natural setting, a wide sky, an abundance of fresh water from Oirase River, and the field nurturing waters of the Inaoigawa River.
This city also famous for Kanchogay street！

   The city hosted the big event "B1 gland prix" in October 4-5.
B1 gland prix's "B" means to local brand .This event's purpose is to appeal local tasty gourmet and charm of the town to many people. The number of visitors this event  in two days was 33 million people although the city has a population of 63,593 !  Many Towada city people frome students to elderly participated in volunteer. 
    My favorite  spot is "Kanchogai-dori. 168 pine trees and 157cherry trees line this 36 meter-wide street extending for 1.1 km. In 1986, the street was selected as one of 100 best streets in Japan, and in 1992, it was also selected and included in the “New One Hundred Views of Japan.” The street is beautifully lit up both when the cherry blossoms come in full bloom in spring and during the Christmas holidays.  Please try to come in Towada！

About My Hometown

 This time, I'd like to talk about my hometown:Hanamaki. 

 Hanamaki is located almost in the center of Iwate Prefecture. The origin named Hanamaki is, according to one explanation, that Kitakami river's water shapes deep vortex and it makes the beautiful landscape of petals float on the water in the spring.

 Hanamaki is famous as the birthplace of Kenji Miyazawa. He loves this city perhaps because of its beautiful landscape, smell of wind and pleasant birds' twitters. His artistic sensibility was sophisticated by nature of this city.

Hello. I'm Wataru Ishida.
I now live in Hirosaki, but I would like to introduce my hometown, Odate City. I was born and had lived there for 18 years.
Odate is located in north of Akita Prefecture. The population of Odate is about 70 thousand.
Though Odate isn't a big city, I can say that we are really relaxed and are able to get warm feelings. Also, there are many special products in Odate. For example, mage-wappa, Hinai chicken and local sake "Hokushika."
Don't ask me how attractive Odate is. Just come and see for yourself.

About My Hometown

 Let me introduce my hometown, Taketoyo.       

 Taketoyo is located in the northeast corner of Chita Peninsula  in southern Aichi Prefecture, bordered by Mikawa Bay to the east.The town has a population of about 45000 and the total area is about 26 ㎢. 

 There is a legend of Urashina Taro in Taketoyo. Urashina Taro is one of the Ryugu (Dragon Place) legends which appear all over Japan. The place name of 'Urashima', 'Ryugu', and 'Otohime Bridge' have remained in Taketoyo.

 The traditional industries in the town is the production of soy sauce, miso. There is a factory where soy sauce and miso are produced near my parents' house. Those are very dericious , so please try one.

 Taketoyo is also famous for 'Dashi festival'. To put it simply, 'Dashi' is a festival car. People draw 'Dashi' about the town. 'Dashi' is very powerful and cool. Please try come to  Taketoyo and take part in the festival!

Hello. I'm Naoki Sato. Nice to meet you.

First, I'd like to talk about my hometown.I was born in Hanamaki, Iwate prefecture. Hanamaki is famous for many many hot springs. I lived in nearly 20 years  this town, but I haven't been visited the 10 % of them yet. Hanamaki is a very town rich taste of the four season. It's time the golden 'Honami' are hanging their head soon.

Second, I will tell you about one of my favorite things. It's playing badminton. I'm a member of medical badminton club. I've played badminton since I was in junior high school. I want to practice it hard and become more powerful player.

My hometown is Sakado city. Sakado is a city with a population of about 100001 thousand people in the middle,Saitama Prefecture. It has developed as Saitama bed town.  Hello,I was born and bred in Hirosaki city. Today I will write about how much I love my home town! I have two reasons why Hirosaki is a nice city.

 One is that it has fashnating events  for each seasons. For example The Sakura Festival for spring, The Neputa Festival and The Firework Festival of Iwaki river for summer, The  autumal tints for autamn,and The garden lantern with snow Festival. And in winter we can go skiing easily.

Citizens can feel the change of seasons through these events.

My hometown is Kashiwa, Chiba. There are a lot of shops and many customers in Kashiwa station, which is center area of Kashiwa. Kashiwa is often called "Shibuya in Chiba" . Kashiwa has an official character "Kashiwani", which is a crocodile. He is very cute!
  Chiba is famous for Tokyo Disney Resort,which is in Urayasu,but Kashiwa is not so near to Urayasu.
  I graduated from Fnabashi high school at Funabashi, Chiba. Funabashi is famous for "Funassy",who is a fairy of pears. My school is located near to Higashifunabashi Station and Funabashi Keibajo Station. Funabashi Keibajo Station is near to Lalaport Tokyo-bay, which is a big shopping mall.  Hello, my name is Reina Odagiri. I was born and bred in Hirosaki city. Today I'm going to write about my       History of club activities.

 I was in track and field club from elementary school days to high school days. In high school I was a player of 400-meter hurdle. It's a very hard event. Actually I don't like doing practice, But I like to get the sence of accomplishment if I win and to be able to make many fliends in tournaments or training camps so I keeped up to be a player for 10 years. The reason why I quited was that I had got a pleasing result. The result was paticipating in The Tohoku Tournament.

 Now I am belong to Hirosaki Medical Rugby Football Club as a manager. We have various event after the club for example birthday paties, trips, and eating dinners together I spend very happy life thanks for our club members. Our club's goal is to get the first place in The East Japan Medical Rugby Football Tournament. Every members practice hard. I hope we get the title next year.

Hello, I will introduce about my hometown, Osaka. Have you ever been to Osaka? Osaka has many spots to visit, Osaka Castle, Universal Stadio Japan, Kaiyukan aquarium, Shinsaibashi, and so on. Osaka also has unique tasty food, Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki. I like these food very much.

By the way, Osakan, people who live in Osaka, speak their own dialect called "Osaka-ben". "Osaka-ben" is highlighted by words and phrases that have special meanings found only in the Kansai area. Now I'd like to introduce one of my favorite "Osaka-Ben". That is " Shaa-nai". This phrase has many meanings. Its most common usage is when someone is resigned to the fact that something will not turn out as expected. As in "so-ka, sorya shaa-nai na," the speaker is reluctantly admitting resignation, or "I see. That's the way it goes." Not easily translated into English, shaa-nai is closer in meaning and feeling to "que sera sera" in Spanish. It has a positive feeling that looks forward to tomorrow. So I like this word so much.

 Hello, I'm Akie Kakiuchi. I'm from Osaka. I belong to rugby football club as a manager. The rules of rugby are very difficult for me. I don't understand all of the rules yet. This semester I have two sections of the class that was formerly known as English 3B (advanced composition) for which I created this blog. Welcome aboard, Thursday and Friday morning classes! Since you'll be sharing this blog I hope you'll take some time to get to know each other and exchange greetings and comments with each other.

I'm Professor Philips and I teach this class. You can find my campus website here, but I haven't updated it in a long time. You'll find links to other sites that might help you with your English on the side of this blog itself, as well as on the links section of my website. Please take some time to study what earlier classes have posted on the blog to familiarize yourself with the blog and the kinds of things I assign you to post about in this class. This is your blog now, so feel free to post messages.

I'm a historian by training and inclination, and I've published lots of articles and written or edited several books, but I have several hobbies as well. I like chess, photography, cooking and nature. Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican and Greek and different African cuisines are among those I especially like. American music is a special love of mine, but I also enjoy European, Indian and African musics. Writing is part of my job as a historian and I love good writing. Some of my own writing is on my website, and some of my academic writing is available at academia.edu or google scholar. I have two grown children and a wife in Akita I try to see when I can. Don't ask how old I am, but I'll face mandatory retirement in a few years.

As I explained to you in the class, my main research focus is on Africa, especially Islamic Africa. Here I am talking to an elderly gentleman who helped me a lot with some research I did in Nigeria.

I want to mention something I forgot to mention for the Friday class, too. I have to be somewhere Friday, so class is cancelled for Friday the 9th of October. I'll see you all at the next class, though, and of course your blog assignment is still due. Maybe I should start posting the blog assignments on the blog so that you'll have to visit the blog more regularly. Comments and suggestions about that are welcome.

 I like this music video. I don't understand means of the lyrics enough, and exactly what the group is like. However, when I watched it, I feel it is cool and fanny.
 This time, I searched the Internet for this group Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and I knew some of them a little.
 First, they received the Grammy 2014.
