Hi! I’d like to introduce about a drug company, Oncolys Biophama Incorporated.

   Oncolys is a medical term that combined “Oncology”, 腫瘍 in Japanese, with “lysis”, 溶かす in Japanese. Oncolys Biophama Incorporated is a drug company that research and develop virus drugs for cancer and serious contagious diseases. It takes responsibility for high needs of the scene of medical treatment, cancer of the liver and the esophagus.

   A peculiarity of Oncolys Biophama Incorporated is to use virus. In Japan, Oncolys is only venture business which has concepts of “development of virus which increase only by cancer cells” and “development of stop increasing virus”.

   Why did they want to use virus to cure cancer cells? Treatment for cancer was mainly to use anticancer drugs. But it was hard to know which patients are suffered from, cancer or anticancer drugs because it acted on both cancer cells and normal cells. It was in the 1990s. Oncolys found a gene therapy when they investigated better ways. When genes don’t work normally, Oncolys put normal genes. Cancer is a genetic abnormal, so it is cured by putting normalize genes. But they had a problem that how they put normalize genes. So they found a way that they use virus to cure cancer.
