My name is Natsuki Funakoshi.
I am in a faculty of humanities.
My hometown is Rokunohe town of Aomori prefecture. It takes about 2 hours to go to Hirosaki from Rokunohe by the car. So I am living alone in Hirosaki. Living alone is hard but I think it will be a good experience in my life.
I like to reading. Do you know Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes"? I like the novel very much. Someday, I would like to read the novel in the original.
I am interested in English. In future, I would like to be an interpreter. So I want to improve my English skills in this class. And of course, I also want to enjoy this class!

I'm very sorry for being so late like this. Actually I had went to Tokyo on the 1st of august so I had forgotten about this last homework. I just can back to Hirosaki last night.
I like to say that I'm so happy in the class because I'm learning new thing. In Malaysia we didn't studied paragraph because Malay essay an English essay structure is similar. But now went I studied how to write the good paragraph it gave me a lot of new information an skill on how to manage the paragraph. In Malaysia we are understanding the paragraph on our own by every day class and writing.
I would like to thank sir PHILIPS for teaching us in a very relax condition and in a very easy way. You had gave me a new skill and perception about writing. If next semester there a an opportunity for me to take your class I will take it.

Academic Writing

I wrote that I wanted to raise my ability of English in my first assignment and as I wrote, I learn a lot from this class. During my high school days, I had few opportunities to write paragraphs and the only thing I did in the class was reading. Through this class, I have many opportunities to write in English under the direction of the best teacher. At first, I didn’t know what ‘Academic writing’ is. But due to the class, I was able to acquire the skills needed for this and my writing ability has become much better. Academic writing has other effects on my English ability. Because I have learned how to write logically, my idea has become clearer and my speaking ability has become much better, too. Although class has finished, I has been keeping my English writing practice.

I learned a lot by this class of English 3B. Forinstance, it is writing of the paragraph. Teacher was said that the writing of the paragraph would be suited most by the first class. because I had heared the word paragraph, I thought that a class is not significant would be done in future. I am very glad to watch this movie all.
By watching this movie, I can learn that love is great and unbreakable. The scene Juliet stabbed herself to death with sword is forceful and sad. Their loves were not rewarded, but I think they live happily in the other world because they can live together.
By the way, "West Side Story" is similar to "Romeo and Juliet." Please watch it too. You'll be impressed.

First of all, it was nice for me to watch such a famous movie in class. But the movie's last was shocking.Though I had known the last scene of it, the shock of watching the last scene was very big. A movie both the actor and actress of leading part die in the last scene is the first at this movie.

In the class, Dr. Philips said that Romeo & Juliet has had big effects on American literary works and I was convinced of that. This movie was wonderful! In the middle of the movie, I think that Romeo and Juliet will have a happy ending so I was surprised at the deaths of them. I can't read the thoughts of the Shakespeare!

It is a pity that Romeo can’t receive the letter from the priest! I think that before starting the plan, the priest had to make sure that Romeo had received the letter. It was his error… I think that the error was the key point of the discovery of the movie, however .

I become interested in the works of the Shakespeare and I’m going to read some of his works in this summer!

I can`t help thinking if the two parties didnI` t stand opposition, If the postman was in time for Romeo` s leaving, If juliet waked up before Romeo died. their love was a playing of future. If it had not been for a quirk of fate, they would be happy. But in spite of the hard situation, they stock to their love. So many people hand a story down from generation to generation.

What I got from Romeo & Juliet

When I finished seeing "Romeo & Juliet", I was very moved but I had a question: what is love?. Surely it is amazing that he and she can die because the lover dies. Moreover, they don't hesitate to choose death when they realize the lover's death. If you had the most important person and he or she died, could you choose death? I can't do that. So I think that the love of Romeo and Juliet is very strong. However, is it true love that his death follows shortly after her and her death follows after him? Some people may say yes and others may say no. I think that this was one way to show love and they could show love to the other with other ways.


I don't know that this love is true love. However, I can understand the power of love. In this story, Romeo and Juliet aren't bound together but their love gives a chance to shorten the distance between the Montagues and the Capulets. These families have hated each other very much, but the grudge comes to an end because of love of the couple.


We were given a chance to think about love from Shakespeare. This is a big question but I'd like to keep thinking of it from now on.

Very beautiful story that what i can say about this story. But as normal story ending with sad death. I not clearly understand the biggest conflict that happen after Romeo kill Juliet cousin and why exactly the plan that the father had plan so Juliet must pretend death? What ever I like the song that is the important thing. There are so many poem inside the story and I can't understand the real mean of all of it. The end was a little sad I think but that is the fact of this story ending with death of the couple. Moreover I think the problem is the crisis between their family that make them become like that. It is not their fault to fall in love with each other because it is their destiny. I feel sympathy for them.
In conclusion it is a beautiful love story.

My feeling of the so-far “Romeo and Juliet”

I found two specific feeling of the movie in my heart. (It goes without saying that the story is wonderful!) First, I was surprised by the simple story of the movie. Because there are no redundancies in the movie, I was able to concentrate on the story. I think this characteristic doesn’t appear in the today’s movies very much. ‘Romeo and Juliet’ entertain us by the story itself while today’s movies are supported by other things such as CG. Second, I was moved by the lines. I can’t explain how I felt when I heard them, but I think these lines are considered very-very-very carefully by the Shakespeare. Because I am Japanese, it was difficult for me to find what kinds of spices are added to the lines, but I found some spices and surely felt something special when I heard the lines. Now I’m very looking forward to watch the rest of the movie tomorrow!

I think this movie is very interesting for me. First scene of this movie begin with battle between Montagyu and Kyupiletto. I thought this movie is only consist of love story and What I know about Romeo and Juliet is that Romeo shout for Juliet under the tower which Juliet is confined. So I surprised at this happening. For example, Romeo's family line is the enemy of Juliet's family line. In other words, he is never allowed to love her and she is never allowed to love him. This relationship is used in the romantic dramas and movies. As for "Titanic", Jack is poor and Rose is rich, so many people around them are opposed to love each other. This premise is very similar to Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo and Juliet was made several decades ago but this style is used still now. I think that this is the originator of the romantic dramas and movies.

For me it was a very wonderful story. The part that I like the most is the poem and music that had been presented in front of the audience at party time in Juliet house. I like the music. It make me feel the beauty of the love.
But something that I feel regrade is I can't understand all what they talk about because there are so many poem that been use in the story skrip. Their dialogue too high for me hahaha. I'm STILL a beginner in English that why I can't catch the meaning.

I want to see "Romeo & Juliet". There are many people who want to see it, then my idea may be boring. But there are two reasons for this.

Hello .

I know many students want to watch "Romeo and Juliet".But I would like to go other way. So I want to watch " Casablanca ". Maybe, almost all of student don`t remember this movie. In fact , I hadn`t know Casablanca since professor philips introduced it for us . However I was interested in this movie since then , because the title "Casablanca " is very very splendid and lovely ! And Casablanca is ranked high in U.S. American Film Institute chosed this movie as second in Ameican best movies . Further more, there is a famous line in it. It is "Here`s looking at you , kid ". It means "君の瞳に乾杯" in japanese. I want to watch such romance film! If everyone don`t agree my opinion, I certainly rent this film and watch it.

It is so exciting and had been watch by all of my family member except my father because he has to work in a day. hahahaha. I never had experience watching the movie so I really want to watch it. Maybe there a some different between drama and the movie. In drama this story had combination of love story between the princess and the thief, a magician story same like ALADDIN story and war between good and dark power. I think all of us need to watch it. Moreover I also like the story of ALADDIN which is one of the famous story in Malaysia seen I was at kinder garden. The quartet set a national record of 43.67 seconds at the pre-Olympic meet in Beijing late last month to improve its rank to 17th in the world--just .03 seconds behind Australia for the 16th and final qualifying spot.
The top 16 teams, based on the average of their two best results recorded between Jan. 1, 2007, and July 18 this year, qualify for Beijing.
Japan's other relay teams appear safely through. According to the latest rankings released May 25, the men's 4x100 team is fourth, while in the 4x400 event, the men are 10th and the women 12th.

Another bottle, “Fresh tea(生茶)” has small goods of giant panda. There are many examples like this in Japan. Some magazine which feature fashions have small bags of “HERMES”, “Louis Vuitton”, and “Chanel”. These companies say that it is good for not only customers but also for us because they can know what kinds of bags customers want. I found it very interesting that Japanese companies add one or two free gifts to merchandise from drinks to magazine with the corporation of other companies. I think this tendency is especially characteristic of Japan. I’ve never heard such things in other countries. Even if there are some goods like this, quality of free gift would be even lower than that of Japanese free gift.

I think natto is very delocious food.But some people don't like it.

My brother lives by himself in Kyouto. So, I am planning travel in Kyouto by the train.
Do you know seishun-18-tickets ?? This tickets is very useful. Because a ticket is 2,300 yen. It is inexpensive.and we can ride around in a day by using this ticket. But there are some instructions for this tickets.
First, we can only buy it in definite term.
Second,we can only buy it in five tickets book.
Last,we can only ride on way train.
I think this tickets is a friend of the poor student. I want to travel everywhere in Japan and enjoy summer vacation by using this tickets well.

my favorie composer

Today I introduce another favorite composer 'Akira Senjyu'. He graduate Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He is one of the most important composer in the world. His recent famous work is the music of 'furinkazan'. The opportunity I know him is the music of 'Sunanoutuwa'. 'Sunanoutuwa' is the TV drama which is broadcasted in 2004. In the drama the music composed by Senjyu put enthusiasm into me. In the future I will pay attention to him, too.

Summer vacation

I' m looking forward to summer vacation, because I have a lot of things which I want to do.
First, I want to go to the seashore with my friends. It is our annual summer event and a opportunity to meet my friends again.
Second, I will study hard. I want to be good at English, so I will read many English books and practice speaking English.
I hope to make a lot of memories.

Teaching

Have you ever taught something to others? This is very difficult, I think. Since I began to work as a teacher in a cram school, I always feel that. For example, my student is very weak in fractional expressions so I never fail to give a test about them. At the end of a class, I ask whether he can understand this class or not, and he says,"Of course, I can do that". However, he can't solve fractional expressions I give him as a test!

Surely, teaching is very hard but I can grow up through it. Nowadays, I think of the following questions every day. How should I teach that? What ways to solve the problem he can understand easily? This experience is new for me and is very useful in the future. And I think that teaching is an important skill so I want to develop the skill more.

battle against oil

One day,I noticed that a bad smell was coming from kitchen. "Where is coming from?"I thought.

I looked for the cluprit. What do you think it is?

It was oily dirt of a ventilation fan. So I decided to clean it completely.

I wondered why that bad smell had developed although I didn't cook so much often.

At first,I look the ventilation fan. That was exactly what I thought.

Soon,I took the action.

The dirt was worse than I had expected.So I tried using various kinds of cleansers.

It took about an hour.I won.

The ventilation fan became very very very clean!I was happy.

Through the trying,I discovered the most useful cleanser was キュキュッと　クエン酸入り.

Today I tell you my present cooking life!

In past days, I show the dishes I made. This is the second time. Now I live in a boarding house, so I don't have to cook myself. However, in order to grow up in various fields, I challenge to make dishes as one of the methods.

First menu is sauted dish of eggplant & poke with "miso". And second one is fried rice with a sticky sauce. There were some mistakes such as that I use too much oils or that I forgot buying eggs. But these were so good! I continue to cook from now too!

A traveler always has he/her own place that he/her need to reach in a certain period of time. But to be there he/her must to pass a desert, river and jungle. He must get he/her needs to continue the journey so he need to take a break at every place. But a good traveler will not spend so many times make other trip around the place because he/her still has along journey to continue. In other hand a bad traveler will spend a lot of time buy all stuff that he want and he feel very happy at that time. But he forgot that he need to complete a mission to reach another important place. So as a result he just feel happy a while at first and then face a terrible life in the rest of he/her live. So in conclusion we must to think a truth goals in doing something.

WHY we must to obey to the rod near the road? Who is more powerful rod or human? Didn't you think you are a crazy person obey to the rod that can't think and can't do nothing to you except show you red, yellow and green. It show how weak we are. We need a rule to guide our life so we will not get a trouble in our life same as the use of the traffic light to control people from accident. In the nut shell we need to obey to the rod on the road.

While Takayuki Matsumiya has made his mark in the 5,000 meters, he'll be going
to the Olympics in the 10,000.
Matsumiya clinched a place on Japan's team to
this summer's Beijing Olympics by winning the men's 10,000 title at the Japan
Championships at Todoroki Stadium on Thursday.
"I came here [to qualify] for
the Olympics and I made it, so I'm really happy," said Matsumiya, the two-time
defending champion in both the 5,000 and 10,000.
Matsumiya pulled away from
rivals Ryuji Ono and Yu Mitsuya with three laps to go and won in 27 minutes
51.27 seconds. Ono finished second in 27:55.16 with Mitsuya third in 27:58.63.
"There's a big difference between first and second places, so I was
concerned more with where I finished than the time I ran," said Matsumiya, who
last year set the Japan record in the 5,000.
With the victory, Matsumiya
became the first athlete to fulfill the Japan federation criteria for automatic
selection by anyone who wins the national title and has achieved the Olympic "A"
qualifying standard.
Matsumiya topped the "A" mark of 27.50.00 when he
clocked 27:41.75 at the Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., on May 4.
The Olympic team will be announced Monday following the four-day meet.
One athlete who earlier this year might not have thought he would make that
list is two-time world bronze medalist hurdler Dai Tamesue, who overcame his
first barrier in an attempt to make it to Beijing.

Places I visited

Today I introduce the places I visited to you.

First, I talk about Sapporo. I lived in Sapporo for two years. It is a big city and has very high buildings. It also has Hokkaido University. I lived near Hokkaido University, so I often went there. I walked, ran, played soccer and took an examination on the campas. I want to visit there again.

Second, I talk about Okinawa. Okinawa is hot place. Though I visited there in December, I could swim in the sea. I also went many places related to war. I could listen to the stories and study history.

I examined food and infection diseas .Food; there are many kinds of hot food and we had better not to eat at stand because of bad hygien. Infection diseas; we should watch out mosquito if we are pricked with mosquito it is possible that we infect malaria or dengue fever.

I want to make the most of this knowledge and keep health to spend time more valuable.

4 family members murdered / Man kills wife, son, daughter-in-law,
granddaughter with sledgehammer

CHIBA--A 77-year-old man has been
arrested on suspicion of killing four members of his family at their home in
Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, by bashing them with a sledgehammer, police said.

An elderly man called the police at about 7 a.m. Tuesday and claimed he
had murdered his family. Police officers arrived at the house of Yoshio Kiuchi
and found four members of the Kiuchi family bleeding from head injuries. Kiuchi,
who reportedly had health problems, was found lying unconscious.

The victims are Kiuchi's 75-year-old wife, Tokiko; his 49-year-old son,
Shigeru; Shigeru's 44-year-old wife, Miyuki; and Manami, the 4-year-old daughter
of Shigeru and Miyuki.

According to the police, Kiuchi killed his wife with a sledgehammer
while she was preparing breakfast in the kitchen between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m., and
then attacked Shigeru and Miyuki in a tatami-floored room. He then allegedly
bludgeoned Manami to death on the second floor of an adjacent building.

The sledgehammer's handle was about one meter long, and the steel head
was about 20 centimeters long, the police said. Kiuchi kept the sledgehammer in
a shed.

The police found a bloodstained sledgehammer in the kitchen of the main
building.

Kiuchi suffered no injuries, but his pajamas were blood-soaked,
according to the police.

A 59-year-old relative of Kiuchi, who resides in the neighborhood,
said, "I heard that Kiuchi had been in ill health, but I never thought something
like this would happen."

The Kiuchi family's house is an area where houses are scattered amid
paddy fields, about four kilometers southeast of JR Abiko Station. Kiuchi worked
as a farmer until about 2000.

Kiuchi was quoted by the police as saying: "I'd had troubles with my
family mainly due to my health problems. My wife had told me I was a nuisance,
so I thought several times about killing her. When I got up this morning, I
decided to go ahead and do it. I killed all my family members because I thought
it would be a load off my shoulders."

The family's neighbors said they did not know of any problems with the
family.

A 76-year-old woman sometimes talked with Tokiko at an elderly people's
community group, saying: "She was a nice person. I hadn't noticed anything
strange about her."

A 56-year-old female neighbor was stunned by the incident, saying, "We
don't even get minor crimes like theft in our neighborhood, so this kind of
brutal incident is very frightening."

A woman in the neighborhood said: "I heard Kiuchi had been bedridden
due to heart trouble. He wasn't hospitalized, but he had been staying at home to
recuperate and sometimes had to go to hospital."

Sony's games division is haemorrhaging cash because the PlayStation 3 console
cost so much to develop and make that the company will find it difficult to
recoup its losses.

It is not unusual for consumer electronics
manufacturers to pour money into research and development, sell at a loss when a
new product is released and make up the deficit with high-volume sales in
subsequent years.

However, the magnitude of Sony's PS3 losses, and the
length of time it will take to recoup them, have startled games sector analysts.

Sony's admission that clawing back the cash will have a negative impact
on the group's financial results for some time came to light in its most recent
filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Form 20-F
filing, which is mandatory for non-US companies with US-based shareholders,
revealed losses in the year ending 31 March 2007 (the first financial year in
which the PS3 figured) of ¥232.3bn (£1.09bn).

Although this figure is
high, a substantial loss is to be expected. R&D costs for the relatively
simple PS1 launched in 1996 were estimated at close to $500m (approximately
£350m then).

But the PS3 was a far more ambitious product. Sources close
to the company estimate that each PS3 console cost $800 to manufacture when it
was launched in 2006, let alone multi-billion dollar R&D costs.

That
production bill will have reduced as Sony refined the manufacturing process. But
losses for the year ending 31 March 2008, by which point over nine million PS3s
had been sold, were still running at ¥124.5bn (£585m).

The PS1 and PS2
will have paid back their R&D and early manufacturing costs because they
sold in such high volumes over a long period of time.

While this
business model has been standard among consumer electronics firms, the problem
for the PS3 is that product cycles are becoming shorter as competitors leapfrog
and customers become more demanding.

This leaves fewer years to recoup
R&D losses with high-volume sales.

Howard Stringer, chief executive
at Sony, stated last week that returning the games division to profit is a top
priority for Sony.

Sony will look to recoup losses on sales of consoles
and software. Currently PS3s are on sale for between £310 and £350, depending on
which games the retailer has bundled with the console.

Popular PS3 games
sell at between £30 and £40, and less popular titles as low as £15. After
retailers and distributors have taken their cut, Sony is likely to make anything
from 40 to 75 per cent margin on these sales.

At this rate, the PS3 may
never be anywhere near as profitable as earlier PlayStation models.

However, with every console sold Sony is also seeding homes with Blu-ray
players for which it can sell Blu-ray DVD movie titles at much higher margins.

Thus, while the games division loses money on PS3s, the benefits to
other parts of the Sony empire may outweigh the losses.
