Paris

My hometown is the capital of France, Paris. I was born there, so I can tell this is the most wonderful city in the world. The architecture of some areas is unchanged since the Haussmann’s work in the middle late 19th century; this is when the government decided that the capital of France should stop looking like a big garbage. The streets became cleaner, the buildings more convenient to live in and of course more beautiful. Apart from the buildings, Paris is full of historical monuments and museums, so Paris is never boring. Plus the public transport are so convenient you can never be lost in Paris, everywhere you go you can find the subway or a bus which can take you everywhere you want in Paris in 30 minutes at most. The reason is Paris is a small city. Contrary to London or New York Paris has kept its size unchanged since the Haussmann’s work; the suburbs around Paris are bigger that Paris itself, so it is even possible to just walk around while visiting Paris and see everything that there is to see. So I can only encourage you to go to Paris but be prepared because everything there is really expensive, but probably not more expensive than Japan.

I would like to introduce my hometown called Wörlitz. Wörlitz is a small village in the middle of Germany in the federal state Saxony-Anhalt. The closest bigger city is Dessau, which is famous for its Bauhaus-architecture. Together both towns make up the "Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz" which is a popular place for tourism. The main attraction of Wörlitz is the "Wörlitzer Park" which was added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 2000. The park was laid out in the second half of the 18th century and has become famous ever since. It's purpose was to enable people of every social class to find some relaxation and eduction. In general, Wörlitz's foundation was around 1000 years ago. Nowadays, there live around 1500 people in Wörlitz, whose main source of income is the tourism branch. Though it is a small town, it is really worthwhile vistiting.

Welcome to English IIIB class!

We have a lot of new students this semester. Welcome to the blog and make it yours. Please introduce yourself, and remember, anyone on the Internet can read what you say here. Not that they will, but they might. (~_^)

I'm a professor here at Hirosaki, and one of my hobbies is computing, so I experimented one semester with having students write a blog together. It worked, so here we are.

This is a picture I took of my self on the computer, and then edited, when I was fooling around to see what I could do.

Please introduce yourself and show us a picture of yourself if you feel like it.

I forgot we have another class!

Sorry about that. I knew it was our last Friday, but I forgot that next Wednesday is a Friday as far as classes go.

Rest assured I will have something to do during class. You can write your weekly homework about anything you want.

Since someone asked about why people got angry when he played Soul Music, the answer is that Soul Music took several stylistic features of Gospel Music. Gospel Music was originated in the 1930s by Reverend Thomas Dorsey. Many people felt that Soul Music was sinful because they felt that Gospel Music should be used only in church to praise the Lord, and that using the Gospel "sound" for secular purposes was blasphemous. What they didn't know is that Reverend Dorsey was simply using techniques that he had used in his previous career as a secular musician when he wrote Hokum Blues.

Here's what Wikipedia says about Ray Charles and the origin of Soul Music:

Ray Charles is often cited as inventing the soul genre with his string of hits starting with 1954's "I Got a Woman". Charles was open in acknowledging the influence of Pilgrim Travelers vocalist Jesse Whitaker on his singing style.

Here's a YouTube video about Reverend Thomas Dorsey, "The Father of Gospel Music."

The movie "Ray"

Ray played the piano and sing a music very well . I can't do either. So I think he is great because he is very well enough to do in front of the people.
The movie has a lot of music.I don't know its name but I think it's very good.Next time I will finish watching the movie.I'm looking forward to watching it.

about the movie "Ray"

I did’nt know about Ray Charles at all until I watched this movie last week. I think his music is very great and makes us fun, but it was not good that he got lovers except for his wife! I worry whether he could separate from his lovers and quit a drug or not. By the way, I could not understand why people got angry when Ray played gospel music. I want to listen to his music more, so I’m looking forward to watching the movie tomorrow.

About the Ray Charles

Ray Charles was born in 1930. When he was seven , he became vison-impaired, but he maked up soul music in 1950s. One of his masterpieces, "Georgia On My Mind" was accepted Georgia's song.

The real people in the movie

Of course Ray Charles was real, but many of the other people in the movie are famous, too. For instance David "Fathead" Newman: But Quincy Jones is even more famous: According to Wikipedia he is
an American record producer and musician. A conductor, musical arranger, film composer, television producer, and trumpeter. His career spans five decades in the entertainment industry and a record 79 Grammy Award nominations,[2] 27 Grammys,[2] including a Grammy Legend Award in 1991. He is particularly recognized as the producer of the album Thriller, by pop icon Michael Jackson, which has sold more than 110 million copies worldwide,[3] and as the producer and conductor of the charity song “We Are the World”.
It's hard for me to think of Quincy Jones not being old enough to get into clubs, but everyone is young once. Only the lucky ones get to be old. Here he is on the Colbert Report:

Ahmet Ertegun was a real person, too, and did a lot to promote American music, not just Ray Charles:

I think I should say something about Jazz, Gospel, Soul Music and Hokum Blues, but maybe I'll do that after you've seen the rest of the movie.

about my high school

I have a lot of memories of my high school and I’m telling you two biggest memories here. First, my high school’s baseball club was very strong. It won the south Hokkaido championship and went to the Koshien Stadium when I was in the third grade. I also went to Koshien because I was a member of the brass band club. I will never forget cheering our team in that stadium. Second, I went to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Okinawa on a school trip. I enjoyed seeing some beautiful tourist sites and talking with my good friends. In my hometown, it was uncommon to go to Okinawa on a school trip because another high school students go to Kyoto, Nara, and Hiroshima. But I really enjoyed in Okinawa so I’m proud of my school trip. I have so many memories of my high school and cannot tell everything. Even having studied hard to enter this university is a fond memory now.

One is to lend a hand for the Tigers to win the pennent. What the Tigers win the pennent makes us happy and smile.
The other is to work for the good of Hanshin Tigers; for example, a female announcer, a salesclerk, or a ground keeper.
In conclusion, I want to work for the Tigers.

my favorite music

Recently, I’m heavily into jazz music. Especially I love "The Girl From Ipanema", "My Funny Valentine", "Waltz For Debby", and so on. My mother also likes jazz and she recommended me to listen to them, so I began to listen. I borrowed some jazz CDs from my mother. It is interesting for me to hold hobby in common with her. When I was in high school, I played the clarinet. Although I don’t have it now, I want to play jazz with the clarinet if I get it.

This is a link of the news about the women’s World Cup. On July 17, Japan won the women’s World Cup for the first time. 3.11 Earthquake

When 3.11 earthquake occured, I was making curry and rice. And, my new refrigerator was just humped to my room. No sooner the earthquake broke out, than I tried to get on mobile to my family and friends, but I couldn't get them on their cell phone.
The whole Tohoku became blacked out immediately, so we were unable to use electricity and fire. And, we went shopping, but each store was thinly distribute.
Next day, we recovered from blackout, so I entered into making a partly-assemble curry and rice and ate them.
3.11 was very abject day and I hope that Tohoku area will get hot.
Thank you!

about the earthquake

When the first big earthquake occured on March 11, I was in my hometown Sapporo. I felt a tremor but it was not so intense, so I thought it was ordinary earthquake and not so big at first. But I was surprised when I watched images of the earthquake and tsunami on TV news. I can’t believe that these terrible disasters happened in actuality. After a few days, I read an article of a local newspaper, which reported high school students who started a fund-raising campaign on the streets. I was deeply impressed by that article and went to place where they were the next day. I told them that I wanted to join their activity and took part in the fund-raising campaign. I really felt to do whatever I could. All money which they collected were donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

March 11th earthquake

April 19th, I went to Kesennuma to help to distribute rice.
I am attached to Kesennuma becouse I often went to sea when I was child. So, I was shocked when I saw the sea that was a heap of rubble. But children who lived at an evacuation were very vigorous. I got power from them. I thought that I want to help them as mach as I can.

about the movie

I was impressed with Helen's self-sacrificing attitude. However distressed the couple was, Helen continue to encourage to her husband. Hellen is indispensable existence as to Glenn Miller's success.Helen is the model of my future.

The Glenn Miller Story

It's hard for me to understand what they say but I think this movie is romantic and music is very good.We will finish watching this movie next class.I hope it's a happy end.And I'm looking forward to next movie.

The Glenn Miller Story

I had more interested in 'the Glenn Miller Story,' because relations between Glenn and Helen was more romantic than last week, and band music and sound was very transparent.
They got married and he gave her the pearl necklace as her birthday present. This scene was so romantic and I like this.
We will finish watch this movie in the next class, so I'll miss this.
Thank you!

The Glenn Miller Story

I was impressed by a scene which Glenn gave a pearl necklace to his wife. After he gave her it, he went back on a stage and said "String of Pearls",which is the title of the music. I thought this scene was well directed and so good. Moreover, an another scene which Glenn conducted a military march was also fantastic. He changed the military march into jazz arrange. His superior was angry with him, but a general praised him. This scene was comical and made me laugh. I am looking forward to watching the continuation of this movie in next class.

I can't tell you how it ends

and I hope you won't look up a biography of Glenn Miller to find out, but the audience the movie was written for knew how his life had ended, so they didn't need an explanation. It's actually kind of understated in the film, although very romantically. Of course I really don't know that much about Glenn Miller's life, although I've heard his music all my life. He was sort of before my time, and my own time is passing too. I wonder how long Glen Miller's music will be around.

Thursday, June 30, 2011

The Glenn Miller Story

I like this movie, because sound of jazz is good and love scenes are very romantic. I wasn't be interested in the movie and music like this until I watched this, but I came to be fond of them to watch "The Glenn Miller Story." And, I would like to watch the foreign, musical and romantic movie.
Thank you!

About the movie

I have never seen the English movie without Japanese subtitle. So it's difficult for me to understand what they are talking about. I try hard to listen to what they say.Someday I want to watch English movies without subtitle.
The movie has a lot of music. So I enjoy it.

about the movie

I like the movie's sound.
In the old days, I don't very like jazz becouse I thought that jazz is old music. But it is a big misunderstand. I feel ashamed. I was strongly impressed by this movie's sound.

The Glenn Miller Story

"The Glenn Miller Story" is one of the movie which I wanted to watch through many years, so I’m glad to watch it. I think that its music is so good! When I was a junior high and high school student, I was a member of the brass band club and have played "The Medley of Glenn Miller." Some famous tunes such as Moonlight Serenade and In the Mood were contained in that medley, so this movie recalled me to the past. And Little Brown Jug is my favolite song. This song makes me cheerful because people’s singing voice seems to be so funny. It was difficult for me to understand English subtitles, but I was able to enjoy music. I remenber the words, "music transcends national boundaries."

My favorite season

My favorite season is autumn. Autumn is cool season.I don't like summer because it is too hot.The leaves are starting turn.I like watching it.In autumn, as the days shorter and it feels cool,I concentrate on reading books and studying.I can't wait to get away from the summer heat.

My Favorite Season

Which seasons do you like the best? I like spring the best! I have only one reason.
I like vernal flowers; for example, tulips, cherry blossoms, field mustard or Japanese apricot. Especially, I love tulips, because there are various colors in them and floral languages each color of them. In the language of flowers, red tulips signify declaration of love, yellow fame, white new romance and so on... Now, I don't fall in love, and I'm fascinated in floral languages of them.
In conclusion, my favorite season is spring with tulips.
That's all. Thank you!

My favorite season

My favorite season is winter becouse I can ski.
Unfortunately,a number of people who ski is decreasing. I am sad becouse sking has many good point. For example, you can see a superb view from the top of a mountain. I have gone to APPI to ski every winter since I was seven. When I was eleven years old ,I went to the top of the mountain for the first time. The view made a strong impression on me.So, I want everyone to ski.

My favorite season

My best favorite season is spring. Summer is too hot and winter is too cold. Autumn is not too hot and not too cold, but I feel lonely because plants kill and days become shorter. In spring, days become longer, it gets warm, and you can many beautiful flowers. Also, there are many encounters in spring. Sometimes encounters with people who you do not make you nervous. However, your world will broaden if you meet new people. So, I think that spring is an exciting season. Spring is the best.

I also can go to beach, have a barbecue in the yard, go to summer festivals, and swim in a pool. I like swimming very much. However summer in Hirosaki is so hard. I was very surprised last year because Hirosaki’s summer was far hotter than I expected. But I’m looking forward to seeing the Neputa Festival in August. Summer season has many interesting events, so I like summer the best.

my favorite book

"The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" is one of my favorite book. This is a very famous detective novel, so perhaps you have heard of its name. In this story, Sherlock Holmes who is the famous detective and has excellent powers of deduction goes on to solve one mystery after another. He has a good friend as his assistant, Dr. John H. Watson. During reading this book, I was very excited because they were so cool! But Holmes has many faults. For example, he is a cocaine addict and looks down on the police. He also hate women (but he pretend to be a gentleman). As we read, however, we like him for some reason. If you have never read this book, I recommend you to try.

These are not specialist books but novels. "The Sorrow of Young Werther" is written by Goethe, a German novelist and poet, and it is a novel on the subject of love. "The Neverending Story" is written by Michael Ende, a German novelist. It is a book for children but it has a profound theme. I really enjoy reading them and look forward to these classes.
I also have interests in philosophy, religious studies, and folklore. In a faculty of humanities, we can study different subjects which we have interests, and it suits my fancy.

About my major

I have two majors and the main specialty is Material Science and the other one is Japanese.

As to the Material Science, the video below might help you to have a general knowledge of this field.

From this video you can see the Material Science is kind of foundation subject and is a firmly broad field of science. Almost every specialty has something to do with material science because it may have to use materials. For me,I am interested  in materials connected with new energy system because I think energy issue would be a hot spot of science in next ten years.

As to my second specialty, which is Japanese,I think most of you konw because most of you are japanese. But merely not like the normal language specialties which always  center on culture, we regard Japanese just as a tool to learn  Material Science in Japanese because Japan is advanced in this field.

Aomori Municipal Baseball Stadium

I like baseball very much, so I sometimes go to this stadium. The name of this stadium is Aomori Municipal Baseball Stadium. The nickname of this stadium is Gappo Public Park Stadium. Of course, this stadium locates in the center of Gappo Public Park. Every year, there are the National High School Baseball Championship in this stadium. I have been to watch the games every year while I lived in Aomori-city. Five years ago, I saw Hayato Sakamoto play. He became a famous professional baseball player of Yomiuri Giants. I love this festival, so I’m sorry to have joined it this year.

Leisurely Morning

This is a picture I took in my veranda myself. It's a leisurely morning without worrying about any class. Been waked up by the warm sunshine and then I couldn't stay in bed any longer because the sunshine and even the gentle breeze floating gauze is so beautiful. So I got up and made a cup of coffee myself and began to enjoy the touching from the sunshine. Several minutes later,an idea came to my mind and then I take out my plants and let them joined me.
It's really a good time that can be meet by chance only, so I set up my GF-2 and set a self-time for us. Then here comes the picture.

She is very cute!) We were very excited, especially my friend. She really loves Becky. We came back to Hirosaki by train "Resort Shirakami." I took this picture from the train's windows. But we have no rainy season, so I think it is comfortable to spend summer. Sapporo is known for the snow festival in the Odory Park. A lot of snow statues are very beautiful, and many tourists visit this festival every year.
Most people usually say that foods of Hokkaido are very good and I think so too. There are a lot of famous foods in Hokkaido, for example ramen, soop curry, and jingisukan. Jingisukan likes barbecue, and we cook mutton or lamb with vegetables. I want you to challenge them if you visit Sapporo.

self-introduction

My name is Wang Chunlei, an exchange student from China and belong to the Department of Engineering and Science. My major is material science and Japanese as well.
I have been in HIROSAKI almost half a year and really enjoyed the life here. I like the people here, the nature, the foodalmost everything here except the coldness in winter.
I am somehow, kind of vivacious motor type. That means I love sports very much. I have tried a lot of sports, like Marathon, Boxing, Gymnastics, Swimming, etc. Among them, Swimming is my favorite because by doing swim you can practice every piece of muscle you have and that makes me feel exciting! Besides, the view of girls with lovely bikini beside the pool or on the beach can be another kind of service.
Maybe I should take my family and hometown information inside my self-introduction. But, considering Professor Philips might ask us to write something on this topic someday, I wont talk about it in this blog today.

Runaway jury

I enjoyed watching this movie. but in this movie, all things goes very fast. So, I couldn't understand this movie so much. But, seeing informations about this and watch this movie again by myself, I could understand a little. I thought that all juries are fair. But after watching this, I think that is not necessary true, for they are human before they are juries. Humans are affected by their own feelings and others. In this movie, some juries sometimes become emotional. So, juries may not judge fairly every time. In Japanese "Saiban-in" system, we can say the same thing. So, we must face this system understanding this thing.

Runaway Jury

I enjoyed watching that movie "Runaway Jury. The story is very interesting and thirilling.Particulary gun action is shocking for me,because I rarerly watch this sort of movie.Besides I'm so interested in the way of trial.I have no chance to know about american trial, therefore this movie taught me the way of trial.
I haven't seen foreign films so far,but I am going to various foreign films during spring vacation!!

Runaway Jury.

This film has excinting or a little thriller scene, so I could enjoy watching it.
I thought they concern about other shooting victims but don't care about their life with chagrin.
I thought it good that the ending was happy one. But seen Wiki and understood about the content, I thought a little about them after the incident again. I wonder if their way to get the money is not good one. Then I had a question. Is practicing like this deception against wrongdoer is proceeded for it ? Do you think the money is sully or not?

Runaway Jury is great

I saw the whole movie and my doubts got clear because of an explanation from Professor Philips and outline on a website. SO now I feel refreshed and I feel that I have understood the interest of the film.

I think, one of the good points of this film is the woman, Marlee. Her real identity and background were not told us as well as Fitch and Rohr until the end. So we can see from beginning to end caring her behavior without getting tired. Past history of her sister’s death from a gun shooting had an important meaning! This is interesting point of mine. I also think it nice that Nick and Marlee have given a lot of money sent by Fitch for victims.

It was really hard for me to read faster English subtitles yet. But I will try other films again to improve my reading and listening skill.

Impression of the movie

The movie was very interesting for me. I can enjoy not only the story but also the difference of the system of the judgement in Japan. But I have some questions:

1,What secret does Nick Easter have? Is he related to the accident which happened at the beginning of the movie?

2, What secret does the woman who contacted both of the lawyers have?

3, And what is the relation of Nick Easter and a woman? Are they a couple actually?

runaway jury

I'm so so so happy we could see that movie !!! it"s really the kind of movies I appreciate, with a lot of suspense !! Of course, as Caroline said it, the end was totally predictable (but was it indeed for everyone ?), because I think that in America, people tend to prefer happy endings.

And, as Caroline said it too, unfortunately, a defeat in a trial won't force the gun industry to file for bankrupcy, or stop its trade ! Too many people (from the highest classes) are involved in this business (which is one of the most thriving ones in the world)

I have to said that, even if i knew the end was going to be a happy one, I was bluffed when Nick Easter and Marleen's real motivation is clarified !!
I truly believed they were in only for the money, as a cunning blackmailer couple!
But come to think of it, it's true that I have never seen John Cusack playing a villain in a movie until now, so I should have expected him for being on the right side after all !
I have a question for you guys :
do you think the jury can be manipulated so easily ? Would Nick Easter be able to succeed in real life ?

What I think about RUNAWAY JURY is...

Today,we finished watching "RUNAWAY JURY."Last time,I had many things that I couldn't understand and I was confused, but I could understand most of the content.
I couldn't imagine the ending! I was very surprised. It was amazing!
But there were one phrase that I didn't know a meaning. I didn't remember clearly but it's like "more little cat, more less mouse." What does it mean?
In this movie, there were some violent scene and the matter was about trial and juror. I don't like violent scene but through this matter,I could think about Japanese trial system. This problem is really serious. I can't help imaging when I am selected as Saibanin.
The cclimax kept me in suspense,so I was expecting many thing. Anyway,I feel happy because Nick and Marlee's purpose wasn't making money. And I thought that Rohr is honest and nice man!.....Happy End!!

My impressions of Runaway Jury

I have finished watching Runaway Jury. What impressed me most about this movie was the scene that people fought over the decision of the defendant. It was terrible for me to try to change the decision by having the jury on the string. However, I felt relieved to watch the scene that the defendant had been judged "guilty" and the plaintiff had been pleased with this decision. Although there were some grotesque scenes in this movie, I could enjoy watching it.

runnay jury

Now, we have seen all the movie, and I have no more question because everything is revealed in the very last minutes of this movie. So everything is become clear.
I think it is real an Amercian movie because, as all or almost all American movies, there is a happy end. Unfortunately, I am not sure that returning a verdict of guilty against such a firm (I mean gun firm) is so easily. There is so much money at their disposal.
However, it is an interesting movie.

Runaway Jury

OK, folks, you've all seen the complete film "Runaway Jury" based on the John Grisham novel of almost the same name. So what did you think about it? How much did you understand? Do you still have questions about it? Can you answer any of your fellow students' questions? Wikipedia has an article about the film that might help you understand it.

Runaway Jury

I could hardly understand what was happening in this movie because all things go very fast in this movie. This movie refers to the jury system of America. I have some questions about this movie.

1. Are there consultants of jury(like Fitch) in real?
2. What is the purpose of Nick and Marlee? and What are they really?

In the next class, I want to watch this more carefully to understand.

Runaway Jury

That movie was difficult for me. I couldn't understand what jury system was. Is jury system in the US the same as saiban-in system(citizen judge system) in Japan? I'll study, but I want the explanation.
I'll watch the movie carefully to understand the next time.

Runaway jury

I thought that I hadn't had hard time when I heard such faster speed.
I could scarcely understand how the story was developed. It was unclear for me the reason the man was researced, though it may be the most important... And another thing what I could guess was that he has leadership.
I have a question about American judges such as What other forces do they have? Are they just like chairmans?

Runaway Jury

I couldn't understand outline of the film, Runaway Jury last time. But I somehow understood who was key and who did something wrong. One of the factors that makes me feel confused is the jury system. I think the jury system is different from that of Japan in some points. I want to know how a jury is selected or how a sentence is given.

Runaway Jury

I rarely watch foreign films. So it is a good for me at this chance."Runaway Jury" is much interesting!!
But I have any scenes that I cannot understand.First, the woman negotiating with both sides of lawyers and defendants appeared in ths movie, who is she??And what is her purpose?Because of her,I'm very confused...

Runaway Jury

The last time, I watched "Runaway Jury". I couldn't understand this movie's outline very much, but its pictures were so exciting for me.
I have some questions about this movie. For example, I couldn't understand the relationship between the scene that a woman was shot and the scene that a man was walking around town.
I couldn't understand the reason why the battle scene changed to peaceful scene immediately.

Runaway Jury

                     Runaway Jury
After saw the first half of the film, Runaway Jury, I did get some interesting plots. But I didn’t understand these plots when they connect together. Why are these plots happened in the movie? Of course language barrier is one reason, but the biggest reason is that I know a little about jury system in USA, which is totally different from China’s.
I talked this movie and also my query with one of my friends who happened to major in law and this film is included in the list of must-see films top 10 for student who majors in law. After the talk with him, although I didn’t get all he told me, but I am not utterly ignorant with USA jury system any more.
I hope I can connect all the interesting plots in series when I finished the film.

Runaway jury

I watched the movie "Runaway jury" last Friday class for the first time. It was difficult for me to understand the story completely but it was interesting and exciting. Though the story was a fiction, I though it was likely story! I want to know the conclusion early. I'm looking forward to tomorrow English class!

RUNAWAY JURY

I've never seen this movie. And this was a bit difficult for me. I couldn't understand the content,so I examined the outline.
Then I have a question. Why did Celeste decide to take the weapon's company to court? In America, gun control is not so strict like Japan. Is there any possibility that Celeste can win a suit?
I was really surprised that juryman wear casual clothes. And it seems that they weren't nervous. They look free and even comfortable. If that scene is near to real American juryman,it is quite different from Japanese,I think.

The Run Away Jury

I had never known 《the run away jury》before I saw it this time.It caught my eyes when I saw the actress is who acted in the film 《2012》. But in fact, the most important point I liked is that the film is about law and fair.
I have known that even now American soceity is troubled with the problem of gun. The film is very sharp with this problem . I don’t konw the ending of it,but no matter who win the lawsuit, the film shows the problem of the gun.
I really don’t know if it is real that the jury is so easy to be controled, but what I konw is that the system of jury has some flaws. Because a jury which is made up by some people who don’t know law very well is difficult to show their point in fair. They only show their own point and naturely will be influenced by the other people. Certainly, the system of jury is very good. but it is idealist.it lets more people take part in the adjudication. But as the film says, everyone has weakness. So,it is very easy to control them. And i think that the jury’s decide will be become smaller and smaller.

ran away Jury

My question that

1. Why the big man sheded blood at couthouse? He was so angry and sweared, but why?

2. What clothes do American wear when participate in as juryman? In Japan, the newspaper said that if we participate in as juryman, we should carefull for wearing. We should wear not like jeans but like suit. How about America?

Impression of the movie

Although we didn't watch the whole, there are some points I couldn't understand.

1, I don't know the connection of the scene which a man was fired(first scene) and the next scene.
2, What is the true color of a woman who met both of lawyers.
3, Why a man who was burned his house was investigated.
4, The truth of the accident
5, The difference of the system of the trial between U.S and Japan.

Effects of coffee

This is previous homework. I like to drink coffee so much. After I get up in the morning, when I start to study, while I taking a train, and so. It makes me feel comfortable and I can change my mood. In fact, I know only that coffee contains much caffeine and it sweeps away our sleepiness. When I investigated I learned other surprising effects.

The first is other effects of caffeine. In addition to sweeping away sleepiness, it can relieve our feeling tired and increase the ability to think and concentration too. Moreover, it has a diuretic effect and a calming effect on migraine. And interestingly enough, it is also said that the aroma of coffee keeps DNA from oxidizing and heart from aging.

However, not everything is good for our body. Coffee often causes anemia because an ingredient of coffee works to prevent the absorption of iron. So an anemic person have to drink carefully.

In short, coffee is good for us with correct way of drinking. So I will enjoy drinking it.

runnayway jury

when the movie began, I was quite deconcerted." What happens? Who is who? who does what?" there are so many informations in the same time.
Once everything was clear in my mind, I thougt "ok, I understood, this guy and his girlfriend are manipulated the other members of the jury. Right, but why? to get money? to get their revenge? It appeared they did it before in different other cities; what happened at that time?"
And I wonder if pepople can manipulate others people as puppets? Of course, we can see that kind of behavior everyday in our ordinary life and many movies dealed with this thema before.
In this movie, this is well described but I think it is too much and sometimes it becomes ridiculous.
However I want to know how it will finish? How those two guys will be able to escape from that? Because they can play with fire without burning themselses.

Blue Screen ?

This topic may be maniac...

Do you know "Blue Screen" ? This is an error message screen of Windows. When we use computers, this appears rarely. This prevent our data or computer's system from being damaged when Windows become unstable state. This shows messages to resolve the computer's problems. But, it appears rarely and suddenly, so people may usually be surprised. Although I'm accustomed for using computers, I was very surprised when this appeared about 2 weeks ago. Also, error messages which this shows are difficult for common people. So, when this appears, some people may be panic. But, a few seconds after this appears, the computer will restart automatically. So, it is good to leave it as it is calmly. Please don't be panic !

the troubles i have recently

It has been 3 months since i came here in hirosaki. In this 3 months,I have experienced happiness, sadness and also, coldness.
Frankly, one of the most important reasons I decided to come to Japan is that I wish I can speak native Japanese. But I found that my thought is so easy. Now,it is hard to speak with Japanese students,it is hard to show my point in the classes. In fact,I was not a shy girl,I had a lot of friends in my school. but even came here 3 months,I have not japanese friends. Furthermore,I feel that my Japanese is more worse than before.this is my biggest trouble.
Hirosaki is very very cold these days. I have never seen so big snow before I came here. my room is very cold that one day ,I got up and saw that the water in the water channel became to ice . the snow’s length is 60 centermeters. I feel very tired to walk on the snow.
Now it is time for text. I often feel tired and no feeling of study. I become to understand culture shock and feel it as goust. I become angry with everything and worried about all my classes.
In all, recently ,I have a lot of troubles. these things all make me unhappy. But i will try my hard to begin my new life here.

Wet ice

My village have some public bath. One of them is near my house. On the rode around it, no snow or wet ice plate. The hot water flows through the pipe under the road especially on the clossing, so it is easy to turn at a crossing near the . Speaking of wet ice, I have a precious experiences.
My grandfather has take me home by his own car. It is good but a little frightening. He has me see how smooth the tires slip with using a sudden braking. It is begun suddenly. His timing. Surprisingly, Feeling of slipping is enjoyable rather than scaring. He must have practiced the handling of wheel harder and harder. I wonder if it can be done only by him.
I think I'm sick today.

It often happens with me, I'm not really ill, just don't feel in a good mood !
I guess I'm what people call "a moody person" : I can be smiling at one moment,
and cry the second after.

It's not particularly pleasant to be like that, especially for my friends, but I can't help it, it's my nature.
Fortunately, I have been able to change a little bit from Junior High, but there's still work
to do.

And I can guess the cold won't help matters !! I have to add that I'm missing my best friend these days, more than ever. We met at High School, during our 2nd year, and we just clicked !
We've been together since that moment, except for the year she spent abroad in New-Zealand; but even then, we kept talking via MSN, sending each other lots of letters, etc ...

But now, she's busy with her interior design studies, and we haven't been able to talk via Skype since I came here :(

I can't wait to see spring coming, I want to see the cherry blossom, I want sunny days, I want to swim in the Asamushi sea. And in spring, my friend's studying year will be over, so we'll be allowed to talk at last (I hope ^^)

winter morning

Early in the morning, I struggled to get up from my warm bad. Pulling back the curtain and all that you could see was white. The ground was almost entirely covered with a thick quilt of snow! Snowflakes were dancing around in the air, so densely that I had to narrow my eyes to find my way. I turned by chance, to where I had come from, and found only two lines of footprints solitarily behind me. I should feel excited when I see view like this just one year ago, but not now!  Because this scenery have last for almost one month and anyone who have seen the same scenery for a month would feel boring.

Just that time, an old man that was pulled by his dog passed by. It was hard for the dog to walk through such deep snow, but he bravely struggled forward. Being curious about this white thing, he appeared a little excited, jumping, running or sometimes scrambling.

Finally, I found a thing that can make me feel a little fresh in the morning.

Catenary

Do you know " Catenary" ?

This is the catenary equation. cosh is the hyperbolic cosine function. Catenary means chains or electric cords. In fact, that is the equation which indecates a dip of a cord and used when catenary arches are built because catenary forms are very stable. Is it coincidence or necessity ? I don't know.

L = 2Csinh(S/2C)
D = C(cosh(S/2C) - 1)
catenary number, C = T/W

For example, when a electric cord is built, in this case, catenary formularized in this way. (L is the length of the electric cord. sinh is hyperbolic sine function. S is the span. D is the dip. T is the tension of a horizontal component. W is the whight per 1 meter.) It is very mysterious and interesting, isn't it? Math is closely connected with nature.
