My Activity over Break

In this break, I returned to Akita and I went to see a high school friend. He is one of my best friends regardless of sex. This time we enjoyed Akita foods at Mugendo:a restaurant in front of Akita station. We ate standard Akita foods. For example, Kiritanpo and Inaniwa-udon. But we found obscure Akita food!

It is Fried-Hatahata. Hatahata is famous fish of Akita. Akita people sometimes eat grilled-one. But I have never heard of Fried-one. It was used a hatahata whole. So, it had large volume and it looked beautiful. We enjoyed real taste of hatahata. With lemon, we also enjoyed different flavor.
Thanks to the Fried-Hatahata, we could rediscover the good thing about Akita.
Whether you are Akita people or not, I recommend you to enjoy Akita food:)

My favorite actor, Haruma Miura plays an important role in this movie. When he died of terminal cancer, I shed tears. This movie is beautiful anyway. I learned an effect of love from this movie.

My favorite movie

I like SF movies the best. Especially my favorite movie is Jurassic Park. Jurassic Park is an American science fiction adventure thriller film using dinosaurs directed by Steven Spielberg. I liked dinosaurs very much when I was child and even now I love dinosaur although I've never seen them. I've very attracted by them somehow. They are huge( of course some of them are small ),wild and free and live in magnificent environment(on the film and my thought). I'm attracted such an natural environment, too. In short, I'm fascinated with the dinosaur era. I 'm very happy if I can go back to that era and see them, although I don't want to be eaten by ha ha:) By the way, have you ever been to USJ? Heartwarming Movie

My favorite movie is "HANAMIZUKI". It means "flowering dogwood" in English. This is a Japanese movie shown in 2010. This is a long love story between a young fisherman and a female highschool student who intends to go to a university. The leading actor is Toma Ikuta. Because his performance is good, he is one of my favorite actors. The leading actress is Yui Aragaki. She was a fashion model of the magazine I read when I was a junior high school student. So, she is also one of my favorite actresses. Not only leading actor and actress but also the other acters and actresses are magnificent. The most remarkable point is that the movie is filmed in Hokkaido, Tokyo, NewYork and Canada. We can enjoy many beautiful scenes. I suggest that you pay attention the scenes watching the movies. I couldn't expect the end and it came to an unexpect ending. In fact, I was moved to tears. I recommend to you watching the movie. "HANAMIZUKI" is sure to make you tender!

My favorite seasons

Hello.I will introduce my favorite season. I dislike cold, but I like winter.I have several reasons.First,I like snow.I like enjoy snow activities with my friedns. For example,I make snowman and kamakura every winter with my friends and family.I love this time.I'm happy.
Also,I like ski very much.Ski is very exiting sports. There are three times that I can go ski this year.I will spent happy time.

My Favorite Season

My favorite season is fall. I have two reasons why I think so.

First, I think fall is the most comfortable because its climate is not too hot like summer, but not too cold like winter. In addition, it is not too humid like rainy season. Some of people said it is tired to select clothes because of the climates, but it is even my pleasure.

Second, fall has beautiful scenery. Green leaves change the coler into red, yellow or brown, and they fall from the trees. I love this scenery, because when I watch that, I feel like kind of melancholy. It is the time I feel happiness to live in Japan.

I want many people to know the good points of the fall.

My favorite season

My favorite season is fall.
First, fall is comfortable for me. Because the weather is good. The temperature is not too high without being too low. And there are often sunny days in fall.
Second, there are so many delicious foods in fall. Sauries, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, and so on. I like these foods!

Finally, there are so beautiful colored leaves in Hirosaki. When I saw them, I was so impressed their beauty.

These reasons I like fall.

My favorite season

My favorite season is Spring because of two reason.

First reason is that this season is very comfortable. For example, temperature is not too hot and not too cold.Temperature of Spring is moderate in me.And it is drowsy. It is expressed by old Chinese poetry. The poetry say "Good comfortable spring night,I don't wake quite in dawn." I think the words is courrect.

Second reason is the season begins with something new that is.For instance,in entry and employment, you will meet human who had never meet before ever.It is a new encounter.Or I think the season is the best to start new thing.New year start and I think easy to resolve and do something. So Spring is the season begings new things.

Spring is new years.Everyone change something in the season.I like the changing in Spring.

My favorite seasons♪

I like all seasons. Spring, summer, fall, winter each has many good aspects. In spring, it's getting warmer and warmer and many kinds of flowers are blooming.  Especially cherry blossom are great!! Animals also become active and  we human beings are not except. Spring is a season for starting something! I always feel like beginning something new in this season.  In summer, although it's very very hot, we can enjoy a lot of things: Swimming, camping, hiking, fireworks, festival...eating ice creams and so on !! But I hate mosquitoes. They always bite my arms and legs :\  Fall is the best season to see  the turning leaves. They turn red or yellow so mountains become really beautiful!!  Also, fall is the best time for reading, sports, appetite and  harvest. My appetite grows and I eat too much every this season :D Fruits such as apples and grapes are delicious! They are in season!  Now winter has  come and getting colder and colder. I always get frozen these days. But There are many joyful events in winter!! For example, X'mas, New Year, Snow festival, illumination. Now, I'm looking forward to X'mas party ♪

Xmas tree in Hirosaki uni

In conclusion,  I love all seasons.. Each season has a different charm. We can enjoy these four seasons. We should enjoy them!

About my favorite season

Good evening.
Today I will introduce about my favorite season.

The season I like is winter. It might be someone who does not like, but I think winter has a lot of good side.
First, we enjoy various events in winter. For example, there are Christmas, the New Year which is called "Shougatsu" in Japanese, and the last day of winter in the traditional lunar calendar which is "Setsubun" . "Shougatsu" and "Setsubun" are days which solemnize with families, friends, and so. In "Shougatsu" we look the sunrise on New Year's Day, play karuta, and eat rice cakes. In "Setsubun" we scatter parched beans to drive out evil spirits.  Resently these customs are decreasing, but these are enjoyable when we do it. Christmas is not a Japanese event by nature, however we enjoy this day respectovely.
Second, there are comparatively pastimes in winter. For example, skiing, skating, snowballing, kite-flying, etc. Aomori is the place there are a lot of snow in winter, and especially we can enjoy playing of using snow. It is very cold, for all that they must be fun.

Moreover, foods are really delicious! Warm foods taste very good when it is cold. Soup containing rice cakes is a typical example. If you have not eaten once, you really eat.

Thank you for reading.

My Favorite Season

I like summer very much because we can enjoy many kinds of vegetables. Mygrandfather engages in agriculture and works in the field on the farm. The farm is in front of my house, so he always gives me a lot of vegetables in summer. For example, cucumbers, green peppers, eggplants, green soybeans, pumpkins and tomatos. In particular, I LOVE my grandfather's tomatos very much. His tomatos are different from other tomatos in freshness. I think his tomatos are juicier than other tomatos. At once, I asked to him,"Why your tomato is good taste and juicy?". Then he always answered, "This is because I have never used agricultural chemicals". I respect his belief and I feel I always have to thank to my grandfather when I eat his tomatos. This is my summer's pleasure and the reason why I like summer very much.

Thank you:)

My favorite season

My favorite season is spring. The reason is very simple. My birthday is April second. So, I like spring. And, spring is very beautiful season. Many flowers bloom in this season. I like to see flowers while I am walking. Cherry blossoms are very nice in Hirosaki. I was impressed to see them at Hirosaki cherry blossoms festival for the first time this year. I felt like going to see them many times while the festival was being held. Of course, I am going to see them next year, too.

I love spring! How about you?

My hobby

My hobbies are reading books and go to Karaoke. Reading books takes me much knowledge and opinions.  There are many kinds of genre in books I read, but my favorite genre is a story, because when I finish a whole story, I know much sense of values in the characters. They always take me refreshing surprises, so I like it.

I like music very much, and I like to go to Karaoke with my friends too. So I search enjoyable songs, such as funny lyrics, and listen them. And when I go there with friends, I sing them. It is very fan to make them laugh!

It is my favorite song! Its lyrics and video are very funny.

My Hobby

My hobby is playing mahjong. But I haven't been to "Mahjong-saloon". The places I often play mahjong are game arcade, Internet, and sometimes I play mahjong with my friends.

Official site: http://janryumon.plaync.jp/

Official site: http://www.sega-mj.com/mj5/index.html

Many people often have bad impressions whichever they hear about mahjong. But to tell the truth, mahjong is not a dirty game, very fun and exiting game. Why? Because mahjong has many uncertain elements to decide a winner. Sometimes even a beginner player overwhelms a professional player. It is unreasonable and interesting point , so mahjong is a exiting game. Therefore, I like mahjong so much.

My hobby

My hobbies is reading books and listening to music.Recently, I started knitting.Today,I will talk about knitting.

I knit a scarf now.The color is sky blue and white. This color is like sky and cloud. And I like this color. But I think it should be a warm hue.(For example, red, orange, and beige)For the presents,i finished knitting 44 layers yesterday.I knitted blue and whit alternately. I knits it with blue for a long time today. The layers will be 202! It is very hard for me to knit it.But I was enjoyable to knit it.

You may think knitting is difficult. It is current.I also feel that it is very difficult at first. And I feel hard. But when I became accustomed knitting, I happy to knit.I think everyone may be able to knit something if becoming accustomed. How if you also start taking the opportunity of this winter?

About my hobby

Good evening.
Today I will introduce my hobby.

My hobbbies are various : playing sports, playing the piano, reading, writing stories, and so.
One of them is listening to music. There are classical music, pop music, rock music,  anime song, and more.

Listening to music enables me to diverse feelings : happy, fun, calmly, relax, etc. I often listen to music. When I study, listening to music gives me to good power of concentration. When I feel tired, they give relaxing effect. And they give an encouragement when I feel sad.
Also, I can raise my motivation listening to music. When I have low tension, I do that. After doing that, I can raise my tension and feel motivated. So I become a custom before I do something.

Thank you for reading.

My Hobby

My hobby is Nabe-party. (In this case, "Nabe" does not means "pot" . "Nabe" is cooking various things in a pot. It is famous and traditional Japanese food.) I'd like to explain how to enjoy Nabe-party.

First, you decide the members and go shopping to buy ingredients with the members. It does not matter that you go shopping by yourself in advance. But if you go shopping with the members, you can think about ingredients, something to drink and desserts discussing with the members.

Second, you cook Nabe with the members. If you are not good at cooking, you only have to cut vegetables, mushrooms and so on. You would be able to do it in a short time.

Finally, you and the members eat Nabe. The taste is so good that the conversation becomes lively. You can talk about your worries, dream and love. Then you and the members can make strong their friendships.

Many university students enjoy talking with their friends drinking liquor. Although I do not like the way, I'd like to suggest the other way:Nabe-party that you can promote friendship.

↓Picture:I enjoyed Nabe-party with my friends the other day. We continued to talk from ten to six (morning)!

I hope you and your friends can enjoy Nabe-party :)

my hobby

I don't have hobbies much. As I have said before many times, I like to watching a Korean drama and listening to music. My favorite singer is Aiko. Her songs are very cute. But I became to like 'every little thing' these days. I listen to their songs with You Tube every day. And since I entered Hirosaki university, I became to read books little by little. I read philosophy and education books. They were very difficult. So, when I read novels, I thought that they were easy to read and interesting! I like books written by Hiro Arikawa. Her love stories are very nice! Please read 'a country of rain tree' and 'an illustrated Guide to plants'.

My hobby

I have several hobbies: reading, listening to music, traveling, watching movies, eating, shopping ...etc! Today, I'd like to introduce one of my hobbies. It's watching scenery! I like watching sea, mountains, forests, sky, town scape, walking dog... and so on very much. Even if it is rainy, although I feel uncomfortable, I think the scenery is beautiful. Whenever I go out, I try to look up the sky. In Hirosaki, I can see Mt. Iwaki anywhere. It is magnificent!! But I haven't climbed Mt Iwaki yet. I'm sure the view from the top of that mountain is wonderful! I plan to do it next year :) Next February I'm going to America to study. The  foreign scenery must be exciting ! Also I'm looking forward to taking airplanes. I like taking airplanes because, you know, the out view from a higher position is very good! I'm excited to think  just about it. Thank you :9

My Favorite Food

According to NHK statistics (2007), the most favorite food of Japanese is sushi. And also I like sushi very much. In particular, nattomaki(fermented soybeans roll) is my favorite kind of sushi because my grandfather sometimes makes nattomaki for my brother and me. My grandfather's nattomaki is special. It contains a lot of natto and the contained natto has already seasoned with soy sauce. So I don't have to put soy sauce on nattomaki and that enables me to enjoy original flavor of natto because I often use soy sauce too much by mistake. My grandfather's nattomaki is most favorite nattomaki for me. In this winter vacation, I will learn how to make my favorite nattomaki from my grandfather.

↑ Sorry. This is not my grandfather's nattomaki. This is only image of nattomaki.

I like eating and I like many kinds of food. I'd like to introduce two of my favorite foods.
First, it's apples. I like them the best of all fruits. Hirosaki is famous for apples and there are many various apples. For example, fuji, santsugaru, ourin and so on. They each have different taste, but they all are delicious without being cooked. They can be used for apple pie, too. Hirosaki has a lot of apple pie shops. So someday I'd like to try out all the apple pie shops.

Great collaboration!!!

Second, it's taiyaki. They are fish shaped pancakes filled with anko or cream. But we can also fill them with chocolate, curry, meat and so on as we like. They are really good!! Especially, I like their structure. They are unique. In Goshogawara, taiyaki called AGETAI are sold. They are flied taiyaki. I want to try them, too! Have you ever eaten taiyaki?      Do you know Akinator? He is a wise man, and he detects anything what you imagine by several questions.

How to play this game is easy. First, you imagine someone without distinction of real . Second, you answer about 10 or more questions he asks about that. Finally, he guesses that you think right! If he could not guess that or he did not know that, he felt mortifying. At that case, you tell the right answer and give knowledge about that. He magically guesses something right you think, so I recommend you to do!

I like to listen to music and watch a Korean drama. I make use of GyaO! to do these things.

About music, this website distributes the latest music and takes up various singers and groups. I don't have a TV in my home now. So, it helps me not to be a person who is behind the times.

About Korean drama, this website distributes various dramas once a week, for example, a comedy, a romance and a costume drama. I watched `You are handsome', `my sweet Seoul' , `my girl' and so on. And I watch 3 dramas now. They are very interesting!

I love this website!

About My Club

I am a member of a brass band club in Hirosaki University, and I play the Euphonium.

This club is active whole year. In summer, some of us practice for contests, the others often visit and perform, because we are requested it in some festivals or something. In winter, we have ensemble contests and a Regular Concert. The Regular Concert is a good chance almost all of the member play together and we are listened a large audience, so I am looking forward to playing there.

This club works a little busy, but I do not care, because I love music!

Flute,Wind Orchestra, Subscription Concert

Flute is one of the woodwind instruments made from wood. But Flute that people often see are made from silver.(Some flute are made from gold, platinum, and wood.) The origin of flute is instrument called Flauto Traverso. "Flauto" means a pipe and "Traverso" means a side. This was made in baloque. At the time,it is made from wood. As the times changed and it changed. The flute was made of silver in 1847. As a result, flute was the current form. ( Of couse, the flute I blowing is it too.)

Wind Orchestra is music that people play wind instrument -for example, flute, clarinet, trumpet, and so on- and percussion. General to speaking, it is said Brass Band. But it is not correct because Brass Band is composed of the brasses like trumpet without the woodwind instrument. I want everyone not to mistake.m(_ _)m

By the way, I join the wind orchestra club in Hirosaki university.I play the flute and piccolo. Recently,we practice very hard for subscription concert. The concert will be held in hirosaki citizen hall on December 17. We are going to play contest music, others classic, and pops. Admission is 500 yen. I want to play to impress you. We together look forward to you.

And there is an interesting festival in February. It is called “Amekko ichi”. Amekko means candies. This festival comes from old histories and now it has a tradition which eating candies in this season make us healthy.

Odate is too small and rural, but there are kindly people and much nature, so I like there.

Paris

My hometown is the capital of France, Paris. I was born there, so I can tell this is the most wonderful city in the world. The architecture of some areas is unchanged since the Haussmann’s work in the middle late 19^th century; this is when the government decided that the capital of France should stop looking like a big garbage. The streets became cleaner, the buildings more convenient to live in and of course more beautiful. Apart from the buildings, Paris is full of historical monuments and museums, so Paris is never boring. Plus the public transport are so convenient you can never be lost in Paris, everywhere you go you can find the subway or a bus which can take you everywhere you want in Paris in 30 minutes at most. The reason is Paris is a small city. Contrary to London or New York Paris has kept its size unchanged since the Haussmann’s work; the suburbs around Paris are bigger that Paris itself, so it is even possible to just walk around while visiting Paris and see everything that there is to see. So I can only encourage you to go to Paris but be prepared because everything there is really expensive, but probably not more expensive than Japan.

I would like to introduce my hometown called Wörlitz. Wörlitz is a small village in the middle of Germany in the federal state Saxony-Anhalt. The closest bigger city is Dessau, which is famous for its Bauhaus-architecture. Together both towns make up the "Garden Kingdom of Dessau-Wörlitz" which is a popular place for tourism. The main attraction of Wörlitz is the "Wörlitzer Park" which was added to the UNESCO world heritage list in 2000. The park was laid out in the second half of the 18th century and has become famous ever since. It's purpose was to enable people of every social class to find some relaxation and eduction. In general, Wörlitz's foundation was around 1000 years ago. Nowadays, there live around 1500 people in Wörlitz, whose main source of income is the tourism branch. Though it is a small town, it is really worthwhile vistiting.

Welcome to English IIIB class!

We have a lot of new students this semester. Welcome to the blog and make it yours. Please introduce yourself, and remember, anyone on the Internet can read what you say here. Not that they will, but they might. (~_^)

I'm a professor here at Hirosaki, and one of my hobbies is computing, so I experimented one semester with having students write a blog together. It worked, so here we are.

This is a picture I took of my self on the computer, and then edited, when I was fooling around to see what I could do.

Please introduce yourself and show us a picture of yourself if you feel like it.

I forgot we have another class!

Sorry about that. I knew it was our last Friday, but I forgot that next Wednesday is a Friday as far as classes go.

Rest assured I will have something to do during class. You can write your weekly homework about anything you want.

Since someone asked about why people got angry when he played Soul Music, the answer is that Soul Music took several stylistic features of Gospel Music. Gospel Music was originated in the 1930s by Reverend Thomas Dorsey. Many people felt that Soul Music was sinful because they felt that Gospel Music should be used only in church to praise the Lord, and that using the Gospel "sound" for secular purposes was blasphemous. What they didn't know is that Reverend Dorsey was simply using techniques that he had used in his previous career as a secular musician when he wrote Hokum Blues.

Here's what Wikipedia says about Ray Charles and the origin of Soul Music:

Ray Charles is often cited as inventing the soul genre with his string of hits starting with 1954's "I Got a Woman". Charles was open in acknowledging the influence of Pilgrim Travelers vocalist Jesse Whitaker on his singing style.

Here's a YouTube video about Reverend Thomas Dorsey, "The Father of Gospel Music."

The movie "Ray"

Ray played the piano and sing a music very well . I can't do either. So I think he is great because he is very well enough to do in front of the people.
The movie has a lot of music.I don't know its name but I think it's very good.Next time I will finish watching the movie.I'm looking forward to watching it.

about the movie "Ray"

I did’nt know about Ray Charles at all until I watched this movie last week. I think his music is very great and makes us fun, but it was not good that he got lovers except for his wife! I worry whether he could separate from his lovers and quit a drug or not. By the way, I could not understand why people got angry when Ray played gospel music. I want to listen to his music more, so I’m looking forward to watching the movie tomorrow.

About the Ray Charles

Ray Charles was born in 1930. When he was seven , he became vison-impaired, but he maked up soul music in 1950s. One of his masterpieces, "Georgia On My Mind" was accepted Georgia's song.

The real people in the movie

Of course Ray Charles was real, but many of the other people in the movie are famous, too. For instance David "Fathead" Newman: But Quincy Jones is even more famous: According to Wikipedia he is

an American record producer and musician. A conductor, musical arranger, film composer, television producer, and trumpeter. His career spans five decades in the entertainment industry and a record 79 Grammy Award nominations,[2] 27 Grammys,[2] including a Grammy Legend Award in 1991. He is particularly recognized as the producer of the album Thriller, by pop icon Michael Jackson, which has sold more than 110 million copies worldwide,[3] and as the producer and conductor of the charity song “We Are the World”.

It's hard for me to think of Quincy Jones not being old enough to get into clubs, but everyone is young once. Only the lucky ones get to be old. Here he is on the Colbert Report:

Ahmet Ertegun was a real person, too, and did a lot to promote American music, not just Ray Charles:

I think I should say something about Jazz, Gospel, Soul Music and Hokum Blues, but maybe I'll do that after you've seen the rest of the movie.
